i would imagine this would only hurt the drivers that have a high percentage, or are with the company for a long time... plus the ones who bust their ass to be first in line at the shippers/recivers, and work their behinds off... i know i would be pissed if i was still with TMC, and this was true...

anywho, have a great one...

The End is Nigh

Well TMC threader's, I will be parting ways with TMC as soon as I can get into a terminal. I will, of course, drop of the load that I have

My family, mostly my real old parents, need me in town daily. Just can't do that running flatbed freight.

TMC has been a mostly good experience. To all you TMC wanna-be's, you can't do much better. The money is good, home time (for trucking) is good, the equipment is top shelf. Know flatbedding and trucking before you make a move, you may be disappointed. During some serious family and personal medical issues, TMC was very understanding. In one week when I only dropped one load and had to take the rest of the week off, they just tossed $500 in my paycheck; the old now non-existent "Quality Pay". When my father had strokes and operations, TMC shot me home ASAP, one time allowing me to bounce home empty over 250 miles. Sadly, not many companies would do that.

No, they are not perfect, far from it.

For the last two years. I have been a part of this thread. I probably won't post too much. When is see BS being posted, I will respond accordingly.

Good luck to you all.

Von, even though we have never met, you will be missed. I have listened to your wisdom and taken advice. TMC lately is loosing alot of GOOD drivers. My trainer has been with the company for 7 years, and after talking with him daily, he is on his way out also..

On a better note, got my first snapshot, and went to 28%. Now if I could just get rid of this peice of junk truck, I would be a little happier. The speedo will go from 0-80 in about 2 seconds. Of course I'm doing that fast, but it has some MAJOR electrical issues.. Stability System will come on going down a dry road, cruise won't set, radio don't work, ect... Friday I was only a few miles from Indy and thought, here's the chance... But I got put on a certified load. So no terminals for me.. I don't know what else to do with the truck. I've talked to my FM about it, Team Leader, and safety.. So I guess I'll just runner till she blows..

Thanks. IMO, drivers leave for various reasons, not necessarily TMC caused. Crappy paying freight seems to accentuate the general pain of flatbedding and trucking in general; when the money is good you can overlook a lot. Yeah, my trainer left too, he was with the company 5 years. I do see some seasonal freight optimism coming. Though the economy is in the pooper, things are picking up. The Lowe's FDC is Westfield, MA was cut to a 4 day schedule. Last year they were on it until late April. The last time I was there they ssaid they would be going a 5 day schedule ASAP; that is a good thing.

Congrats on the 28%. Get that TQM and Road Scholar in and you will get to 29 or 30 quickly. You obviously have a 387. You can have my 379 "Judy", she uses no oil, runs smooth, pulls hard, and has kept me safe for a long time.

Good luck.

vonSeggern,

I had a very similar situation. My dad had a heartattack, and I was on my way to unload aprox 300 miles away in CT. My dispatcher, gave me the option or either heading home immediatly, or getting a return load back towards home, unload and drive to the hospital. Since my dad lives 600 miles away, I opted for a load, and in that case while on the phone, he read me the load board, and gave me the choice of what was closest. I do appreciate the actions very much. Its a hard situation to be in, Ill bet that they have had fleetmanagers say no, and drivers with trucks heading home

Goodluck, I know, even though I dont agree with all they are doing, my time was fun, I learned a lot from the company, and left with proper notice, etc I even exchanged trucks and trailers with another dedicated in the field, since his was so heavy. It was hard leaving the terminal.

I had alot of electrical issues with my 379. The Joplin terminal found 19 shorts in one trip and fixed 4 more during the last PM. There is a great mechanic at Joplin that is on the night shift that can track down most of the problems. I don't know his name but he has been with TMC for a long time. He is stocky built with thin blonde hair. I highly recommend the Joplin terminal night crew. Even if they did put that farting machine in my truck.

Von....we will miss you. Keep us up to date on how you are doing. Family is very important, so take care of them and yourself.

Hey Von,

I have to truly wish you the best of luck, as my family and I will pray for you. Trust me, I know how family problems can be as I have had my fair share.

I truly need to thank you for all the valuable information you have posted to this thread for so long. It has really helped me in my future decisions. The information you posted is invaluable, and something only aquired from actual experience. It was all very appreciated by me.

I pray and wish you the best in finding local employment, and hopes for better family health. Good luck and thanks again Von!

Good luck to you all.

Von, Best of Luck to you sir. I'll miss reading your posts. I'm selling Toyotas for Star Toyota of Bayside, New York. (Once a salesman always a salesman I guess) Feels empty around here already just knowing you'll be gone. Since leaving TMC, I got my trucking "fix" by reading your posts, closing my eyes and imagining I was still behing the wheel myself. I miss the road a LOT. Like you, my family needs me right now but I haven't given up on the OTR life. Someday I WILL return to it.
I see you to named your rig. Judy I believe you said? Mine was "Pete". When I turned in my 379, I had tears in my eyes as I walked away from it for the last time. I miss my trusty "horse".
Good luck to you and stay well.

Thanks Fred and everyone. Car salesman? Whoa. At least you have a good product to sell.
Truck dreams? Do you ever have dreams of waiting in line for 5 hours at Tamko and then the loaders go on break?
I am in Oklahoma City. Dropping off the last load then heading to Joplin. If anyone from this post is there when I am, they can get some real nice parting gifts: Idle Air thing, strap winder, and a bunk warmer just by saying, "Vonseggern? Er ist Sein reizvoller Mann!"
