The End

The turning in the truck thing was actually quite pleasant. In Joplin, you go to the load securement guy named Matt. He was very helpful and cordial. Then you take your Pre-Pass to the log lady. She puts it in an envelope and grabs your Comdata card.

I, of course, patted 92277 on the fender; she kept me safe and sound during my tenure.

Off to the airport!

Well, a little over a month with TMC and I am quite pleased. I have yet to wait more than 15 minutes for my next load, my deadheads are never very long, and I have been home every weekend except for one. The weekend I spent out wasn't really TMC's fault and my FM tried everything in the book to get me out of there, but it just didn't happen. I definitely didn't see that kind of effort at my last company.

Everyone I have dealt with has been hassle free. FM, Maintenance, securement, safety, all have been pleasant to deal with and more concerned with getting the job done and me moving, than whether all the t's were crossed. again, not the attitude I'm used to.

I started a dedicated route this week, so I may be home even more. The client is a bit finicky but I can handle that. It's a quick easy run and the pay's decent. I should have a better handle on the logistics of it after next week.

:D

Von, Hate to see you go, but I can understand what you are going through. My Mother-in-law was diagnosed with alshimizers last year, which makes my wife the primary caregiver, so I have to be out here making the money since see really can't work. I guess I have been out here just as long as you. We will miss you Sir!!!!!! I just went over my two year mark, and still going strong.

Goldie Hey man we MISS you out here. dont get too fat sitting behind a desk Selling them cars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

greetings gentlemen,

I inquired about TMC a while back in this thread when my company wasn't doing so well. things looked up in the last 4 months, got a maintenance account with Roehl, before I saw my first truck for service my uncle ran the place into the ground. short story long, I am looking to get back into driving. considered various things from LTL wiggle wagons to USXpress. I hear flatbed is hard work, seems to me the hard work would be worth it, I just can't bring myself to pull a reefer again.

what sort of regional opportunities exist from my location? I am right off I80 in western PA. prefer to run west. 25 years old, clean CDL, no accidents, 75,000 miles experience on and off. remember I ran a maintenance shop first and drove second. I am looking to work hard and make some cash, think it's worth a shot? again reefer and also van freight megacompanies are a turn off, looking for a challenge.

First off the line haul freight from your area is great. From steel, wood, and other types of freight, but TMC strives hard to get you the best load they can . Ohio, Michigan, Illinois are the big steel producers. Maryland, PA, Virginia, Carolinas and Georgia are heavy in wood production. Indiana has a mix of freight. If you wanted to run long haul you will have even better oppertunities. running out west

When looking at the cents per mile vs percentage these change over the lifetime of a year. during winter months I have made more on cents per mile over percentage, but in the summer I make more on percentage. Flat bed is hard work. I love to hear other drivers from dry van tell me that YOU drive a flatbed and you never have to bump a dock. I bump just as many docks as they do. You looking for a challenge... TMC is a challenge. They expect alot from their drivers... this is a very demanding job, but the money you can make by working hard out weighs working somewhere else. You will sweat, get dirty, and sweat some more. I have to say and every driver from not only TMC but every flat bed company will tell ya they absolutely LOVE it
