My "part time" recruiting position with them has been changed to an "in-house" position and although I was offered it if I moved to Des Moines, that's just not an option at this time. As far as driving for TMC I stll love that but I now have a new girlfriend and stepson who need me home more often so I'm putting that on hold. I'll look for a local position here in NY where I can get home early (hopefully) until I can get our affairs "in order". I'll still be posting here from time to time and will let you all know of my progress.
Be safe everyone and hope all is well with all of you.

I thought you were home every night now? How much time do they need sheez.

I thought you were driving dedicated, and home every night!

I am home every night, but the 4-6 hours of round trip traffic to and from my dedicated run in NJ added to the 12-14 hour day is too much for my current situation at home right now. I need to find a local gig here in NY that gets me home around dinner time without having to leave at 2-3 AM.

I think the only folks in NYC that have that gig are the politicians and the mob. Oopps, that may get me in trouble. :P

In NYC the Politicians ARE the mob (and vice versa)

Yea, I thought about that angle after I hit send, oh well, my bad!

Good luck Fred, I hope you leave your website up, I was very impressed with it. It will still be of value to the drivers/future drivers looking at flat-bed. If you plan on taking it down, and you don't mind, let me know, I woud like to copy back some of it and use on my site later.

My site has been typically horse and trailriding related, but I did have some trucking stuff on it. Currently under a complete revision as it had gotten quite outdated, and the software I was using was causing problems.

Later,
Louis

Oh, BTW, I start orientation at DM on the 11th of June.

Dang Fred,

Many of us have followed your story since day one when you first asked about TMC. I am sorry to hear that your leaving TMC. I can understand where your coming from on the commute to and from the job. It gets old fast and makes for very long days.

Good luck with the local gig. I am sure there are plenty of LTL shops that pay good money locally. Besides they usually pay pretty well to boot.

I remember way back when when I was still VERY green posting and asking questions on here and I have YOU and a couple of others to thank for encouraging me to follow my dream and get my CDL. I thank you Sir for that. You've all become like family to me an I can see myself checking in on here from time to time just to see how my "relatives" are doing.
Thanks for all your help and advice over the past year. You are one of the great ones.

Hey Fred. Can't believe you leaving.

You were one of my inspirations, and if i didn't look into your website, diary, and have not found CAD i'd probably be driving for USX or CRE, maybe even JB, and SCH. So you definetly were a big inspiration.

Now with that said, i'm bringign sdomething to the plate too...

You always told me to call you up, and tell you how i'm doing, but i never got a real good chance to do so. I was too buzy making money. llol...

A quick snap at what happened to me in the last few weeks, and basicli since i got in the truck.

I got my 387 with 185,995 miles, and today she has 226,070 on her. thats more than 40k in less than 4 months.

My first snapshot was 28% like many others "avarage". Second snapshot was 31%, and yesterday i got 32%. Officially killing it... lol...

Most of you guys probably wonder how i got there... I'll give you a few pointers.

believe it or not, i hated to get up in the morning, but now i get up 6-7AM Central (since i only look at log times) and go to bed by at least 11PM. I don't idle my truck, only if it gets below 40 or above 92 degrees. I run 55MPH whenever i can, and on highways i use the Cruise controll. I'm ALWAYS unloading on a Monday BY 7AM Central if possible. and that is the most important part of it.

If i have to drop in NC, i leave early sunday 10 AM or so, so i can get a full 10 before monday arrives.

BY CHOICE i was also running a lot and staying out on weekends.

My wife had to go to Europe for 3 weeks, than a 2 weeks later for another 2 weeks to visit family, and take care of some business. That ment i stayed out a lot during that time. Once she got back from europe the second time she got let go from her job, so she came with me in the truck for 3 weeks to get a feel for it. During that time we went out west, to see the country. So staying out probably heloed a hell of a lot too,

And again, i say that TMC and the "TMC ways" are not for everyone, and your results will vary, b/c not everyone is willing to sacrifice as much as I have.

But now i'm a happy camper @ 32%, and making a killing. Can't beat that.

For those who have access to the AHI files, and does not believe me, my employee # is 131255

so there goes my story.

Is TMC a perfect company? No. Am i happy? YES. Am I recommending it to anyone that inquires about the company? YES, but i also tell them that it's hard work. My FM treats me good, keeps me buzy, and profitable. Y would i have a reason to complain?

No i'm not a Fanboy, or TMC slut. But i love doing Flatbedding, and so far TMC has keept their end of the deal. As did I.

TMC is not for everyone. Flatbedding is not for everyone. It'sd not an easy job. I had my bad days too. Loadong for 3.5 hours in 10 blow zero over the winter, and being delayed at shippers a half a day. But i take it with the good.

This is my experience after being in my own truck since 3/15/07.

Any Q's?

Fred, i'm sorry to see you go. I've been to Ownes Corning in Kearny 3 times, and always asked the daycab guys where you where, but never got an answer... I would have liket to meet you personally, to put a face to the name. Maybe one nice day. lol...

Anyways, Good luck with whatever you will do, and good luck finding a good job.

Peace

BND

GoldiesPlating 06-01-2007 02:45 PM

Thanks BND. That was a great post and an inspiration to all current and future TMC employees. 32% is the "Golden Number" and you've made it!!! CONGRATS!!!! See? It CAN be done!
The good news is I got 2 calls already today from two major companies who saw that I am leaving TMC and who are offering what I need (and want)
Keep in touch as I will do the same.
Good Luck and Godspeed my friend!
Fred
