Yup sounds like a wind tunnel, if in you finds a fix plz lets me know,
I think its coming from the fresh air access on the door to dash boots,

Plus what do you do in lieu of disconnecting the TMC door light that blinds your mirror view? I purposely disconnected the passanger one it was so blinding.

When you bring it in to Peterbilt for service, tell them about the wind. If you run a 387, it's a known problem. They adjust the door hinge and like magic, the noise is gone! Happened in my trainer's truck last year. If in a 379, it's possible it's a similar probem.
Von's got the right answer for the door light "porch light". Just don't turn it facing outward. I did and safety chewed my ass when the saw it like that. I thought it was cool but they didn't.

If you turn that light so that it faces to the rear then you must also change the lense to red or you could face a fine for having a rear facing amber light which is illegal according to the DOT. We have 1 driver that got fined here in Texas (I-45 Huntsville scale) He now uses red lenses and keeps a copy of the ticket because the shop in Joplin wants them changed back to amber.

On the 387 don't let the tray get full of debree that is under the hood just under the center of the windshield. If it doesn't drain properly then water will overflow into the cab thru the dash.quote]
when i picked up this 387, i was told that it was a firewall problem and pete fixed it when i went in for a service. it would pour water under the dash when i had it washed. but the floorboard was nice and clean.

when i go back in for a service, i will get them to tighten up the doors. as i look at it, it looks like both doors have a gap at the top and front; one could put a finger partically in.

For you TMC drivers who have a "newer" truck that has the Sirius radios, what kind of antenna does it have. I have an "older" truck that has a satalite radio, it is capable, but with no receiver. I purchased one and it arrived yesterday. It comes with an antenna, which has to be permanatly installed. TMC frowns on drilling holes in the cab. I have already installed the receiver, that was just pulling the radio and plugging it into the back and routing the cable behind the dash. Hopefully, there is a model number on the antenna. Or does anyone know if the big truck mushroom type will fit this application? Worse case I'll catch one of you out on the road and l'll look at it myself. Thanks.

i have one of those "capable" radios myself, w/o a remote too. I was thinking, and bought myself a streamer GT, wich was on sale at the TA a month or two ago, and installed it myself. Not in the window, also routed the wires behind the dash, and bought an FM transmitter that goes inbetween your radio antenna, and the antenna to the radio. now i can listen to sirius, and my laptop on the speaker system thru the radio. I mounted the sirius antenna on the roof, with VELCRO. Let me tell you, Velcro is your best friend here, no drilling, no marks left no "trouble" lol...

My cell phone is also mounted using Velcro.

cheers

Terry, when I didn't have the in dash Siruis, I just ran the antenna to the roof between the upholstery and the shell; inside the truck. The reception was fine. It is best to get one of those direct connect antennas instead of the FM thing. I had a 387 BTW and there was lots of space. Not sure about a 379.
