Just as there are people that hide behind their keyboards online, there are people hidding be their CB's. Despite all this I find most professional willing to help anyone.

Darn your Texas hide Terry,here I'm all finished with school and set up to be in De Moines Sunday and now you tell me I'll have to work for a living... LOL.....Glad to hear things are going good for you.What type of GPS are you running?I was going to get copilot but my new laptop runs on the new vista system and of course copilot hasn't got that worked out yet,and said they don't know when they will ,any suggestions for a dumba$$ farmer who's not very computer savy?Thanks! CoPilot barely works properly on XP. I would suggest that you ditch Vista and get a copy of XP. Vista is a crashing POC.

It does make me wonder how they can pass the physical. I am 40-50 pounds overweight myself, and struggling to hold it there, and maybe lose a little, yet I am on the low side of how big truck drivers get. The other day, I heard WHAM wheeeeeeeze WHAM wheeeeeeze WHAM... I was trying to figure out WTF was going on, because it sounded like one of the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park with a tea kettle strapped around his neck.

It was the biggest truck driver I have ever seen. Just walking to the fuel desk was a major ordeal for this guy. He must have been tipping the scales well over 400 pounds, maybe 500. He was HUGE.

How the hell does he pass the physical when they're always harping on me about my little 50 pound spare tire?

The mind boggles.

I hope I don't wind up like that myself, now that I'm living the good life in 100% no touch land. Cranking a set of dollies 30 times a week (15 up, 15 down) is all the exercise my upper body gets anymore, and I've figured out how to set them where I can lift them off the ground with the airbags, and no more hard cranking unless some knucklehead has cranked them alllll the way down like I used to do before I got smart.

On the topic of this thread, TMC, and leaving a trailer in a rest area. A flatbed in a rest area? Dude, you're going to pick up an empty flatbed on Monday if you do that.

Von I was wondering about that very thing,but I'm very new to computers and don't have a clue as to what is involved.I'm sure its beyond my abilities,but you say it can be done, is this a big expensive change?I'd apreciate any advice you could give on this including the GPS .Thanks, Jim.

I'm happy to hear you are through your CDL School. Now the real training is abouty to start. When I was out with my trainer we weren't as busy as I am now.

Speaking of DM, I will be passing through on Monday. I'm trying to arrange with recruiting a recruiting class. It's time to start making the big bucks like Fred! 8)

Many use GPS of one sort or another, we are all sure ours is the best. Personally, I think the stand alone units are safer to use. They are muck quicker also, although they don't give as much information as a computer based system will. I have both and I find myself using my Garmin Nuvi 660 almost exclusively.

Well its a done deal. Got through my road test with Papa Smurf, aka Phil, and got through my first week on my own :lol: I dont like downtown Atlanta at rush hour and an accident to boot. :evil: What a place to send a freakin newbie. Got to unload 3 deliveries this week. Made two wrong turns and and sent in the wrong macro for a trailer swap :? But all in all its been a good week, I guess is has to be a good week if "I MADE IT BACK TO THE HOUSE FOR THE WEEKEND" :lol:
My truck # is 81050 w/ 377k on it, guess I will only have it for a few months till they sell it. Dang them 387's got a hell of a sound system!

Most geek types could help you. I would suggest that you buy a hard copy of XP (available on Amazon), have your geek reformat your hard drive and install XP then start from square one. My son has tested Vista and he his displeased immensely. He used different words that can't be posted here. The kid spoke at DEFCON in Vegas last year so he has his computer street cred.

As to software. I have both CoPilot and Streets & Trips. IMO they both suck but it is all we have. If you ever sign on with TMC, I put all the fuel stops into a database. The database can be imported into Streets & Trips. CoPilot is fussy and it doesn't import all the stops. Just PM with your e-mail and I will send it/them to you. Specify if you want the databases or the S&T file.

have you got the wonderful sound of wind blowing in from the doors yet? i have just got 290k on mine and sometimes i have to wear earplugs its so loud. going to try to fix that this wknd.
