Oh BTW T.F., do you care to tell us about H.E.'s detention policy?
Not much to tell, really. It's not my favorite topic for obvious reasons, but I've never BS'd anyone, so here you go.

The down and dirty is that there is no set policy for detention. Do we pay it? Sure do. But how much and when it kicks in is anyone's guess. The way it is set up is that if you get stuck sitting somewhere and it's through no fault of your own, meaning you have not turned down freight, not running late, etc., then they're going to take care of you. If you're running great miles that week, they might throw a few dollars your way. If you're running bad miles that week, they'll probably throw more money at you. But it's a gray area, set up to allow the dispatchers and terminal managers to take care of the drivers that are taking care of the freight.

It's a policy that has its positives (greater flexibitily) and its negatives (nothing set in stone), and by and large works for the majority of the time. But it's not my favorite topic because I don't like gray areas. I prefer to deal in black and white. I thoroughly enjoy working for my company...simply put, there is not a more stable trucking company out there. Debt-free and $350 million in the bank helps me sleep well at night. But that said, there are certainly some things I wished we did differently and that's one of them.

Hope that answers your question.

But here's were you teter off the end of the dock. OTR is what makes your job possible. OTR is what gets the product from City A to City B, where it becomes your job to get it LTL'd around to various points within City B. Those cherry local gigs are USUALLY dependent on those OTR drivers to at least get the product in position where you can effectively do your job.

I talk to drivers every day that think OTR sucks. And I talk to drivers every day that think that LOCAL sucks. In the end, it's an individual choice. Some drivers like running OTR while others like running LOCAL. Hell, if I was to get into a truck, I sure wouldn't be running OTR either, so I'm in agreement with you there. Still, let people do what they want to do, but while on the boards, kindly keep the nastiness toward the OTR drivers out of the conversations.

We know you don't like "dwellers." We get that. But right now, today, "dwellers" are 90% of the industry. And until there is a suitable alternative that will allow product to get from City A to City B, "dwellers" will remain a huge part of the trucking industry. That's just something you'll have to deal with in the real world.

But on the boards, I'm getting a little tired of getting complaints, if you understand me. So continue to sing the praises of LOCAL running (no issues with that at all), but please keep the derogatory comments about OTR drivers to yourself. Thanks.

Oh yes, I've been meaning to say...

PATRIOTS SUCK!

BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!! Sorry, just had to get that in there.
I never thought I'd see a moderator on this site tell someone to stop voicing their opinion, no matter how repetitive it might be. No vulgar language or images. Are you mad that he may have changed some minds about OTR and these green new recruits are not using your website to get jobs? Will you ban him if he continues to voice his opinion about OTR? It is your website so it is up to you, but I guess I had a different impression on how you operated.

People aren't forced to read his posts.

What part of this:

It's OK to think that OTR sucks. No one is disputing that you have a right to your opinions.
...do you not understand?

Wow....

Once more, for those having issues with comprehension.

Opinions are absolutely fine. By all means, voice your opinions. If you think OTR sucks, voice your opinion (even if you're sounding like a broken record)! If you think local sucks, voice your opinion! People on both sides of the issue do it every day and that's great!

But there are T.O.S. rules and when the majority of your posts are aimed at specific posters and calling them morons because they happen to enjoy a job that you don't, that's a problem.

End of discussion.

CFM should not get banned he tells it how it is. SO when all these new wannabee OTR drivers come here atlest someone is telling them how it really is. It seems like everyone else paints such a good picture of how OTR is.

Locked for now till I have time to come back later and clean it up. Although it is faster to just lock it and be done with it, there might be some information that someone might want and find useful, before a couple of internet rambos started a pi$$ing match.

If there is a next time I may just find it easier to delete posters rather than posts.

Just saying,

Ridge

Edit: Cleaned up some-what. Like I said above, I won't make a habit of this. :evil
