I was just at Wal Mart tonight and they had a Dell for $500. 2 gb ram, 160 gb hard drive. It had an AMD "dual core" type processor.

I have a MacBook that I am very happy with. It came with 40 gig of memory, but upgraded to 80. Comes with Itunes and programs to make your own movie and burn it on to DVD. It's very compact and light. The MacBook Pro is more for the graphics person.

I'm pretty sure that mine can run Windows, but if you have a Mac why would you? Their OS is great. I don't know if the new ones come with Leopard.

When our PC died last that's what we did.

I'm a bit vague on what does what and why, but the wife (aka the writer of computer code) is very excited about Leopard, something about the stability of a Mac and the flexibility of MS software. :?

All I know is that I'm sick of having 2 laptops in my truck (one is a spare for when, not if, the other one crashes).

Don't mean to rain on your parade but Windows is a pretty reliable operating system. 9 times out of 10 it's the computer that causes the problems, not Windows. Computers are just like trucks, they need to be maintained to run properly. You wouldn't put a worn out engine in your truck and expect it to never break down so why would you run Windows on a worn out machine and expect it to perform at 100%.
