Default Celadon the sinking ship?

Hello, Cat6869!!! I hung in there for 6 month before I quit Celadon. At the end I was parked almost half of the week in Laredo. I guess I should tell my bank for my mortgage to HANG IN THERE,too . You guys in the office get paid if it is SLOW OR NOT. At the end of my rope at Celadon my paychecks matched some low level 40h a week worker. But still I had to pay bills at home and EAT AND LIVE ON THE ROAD. And I dont just blame Celadon. Like
somebody already said before, cutting the speed back saves the companies fuel, but to the driver its just another paycut on top of the bad miles.

Maybe that's the reason they're cutting back the speed. Think about it. If you can run faster to a location with no freight, you'll sit longer. But, if it takes you longer to make the same run, you'll think that you've drove more miles.

Lucky1....my company cut our trucks back from 75 to 65 on the throttle and 68 on cruise....it takes me about 15 minutes longer to make my trips. The largest output for a trucking company is usually drivers pay, but with fuel prices up the way they are, its now fuel. See my avatar? last truck in the company to be castrated

No I was kind of saying it's more it seems to be picking up so to the person working there, it's hang in there! I feel for you, I really do. Don't take my word and go running back either, however it seems drivers have calmed down about complaining "no miles etc". I know we are trying very hard to get "new" freight. Understand the economy has been very messed up anyhow, I can't blame "Celadon" it's many companies going under or other issue's.
I understand if you have to move on to a bigger and better place, however it seems those who state they leave because of "no Miles etc" they come back within 2 months maybe a little longer, so they lose senority and other little benefiets. So that's why I state hang on!

I do understand the reason behind it all on both parties, it's just one that we all have to get along with or go to a small outfitt that does not care? In the long run that small outfit will go under

If that is the only thing they do you will be lucky. Lowering speed is just one way the big companies will be saving money. A May driver told us they are being charged for fuel if their idle time exceeds 35%....he said he has been charged 380.00 since they started doing this.

be safe and stay warm.

I'm with lucky1.

My truck is governed at 65, but I almost never cruise that fast. I WOULD however miss that extra 3 MPH every time it came to pass someone. I would almost think that wouldn't be safe, trying to pass someone at less than the speed limit......
