Time for an update.
I just finished the training and orientation week in Kingsport TN. This was, by far, the best orientation I have seen. The instructors were excellent and they made it fun as well. Its nice when you don't just go through the motions and train by wrote but actually get good information and learn a little something. You really don't realize how much of a cut above the tank industry is until you see the quality of the driver force. I expected to learn from the instructors at the class but was pleasantly surprised by how much I learned from the other students. Its also nice to sit in a room full of truck drivers and not smell a single one of them. I'm thinking its going to turn out to be a good choice doing tanks instead of flatbedding.

Mudpuddle:
I am starting with Superior next week. I got a year OTR experience with dry van. I know some tanker basics from previous jobs. Can you tell me what to expect during my first week(s) training? I feel like I am going into this blind. Any info - or rough "schedule of events" would be appreciated. Thanks, mbadriver

Our trucks are definately not team capable so OTR training really is not possible. Its better to train locally anyway so you get the most possible chances to load and unload. The more you do it with a trainer the more comfortable you will be when you get out by yourself. The people in the tank industry are top notch you will be happy with your choice.
