For Slider or Mtdewr:
Does GTS pay HHG or practical? Mtdewr, are you or hubby aware of available options for drivers hiring out of CA (we're in San Diego)?
Thanks to both of you for the feedback...hope your holidays were great!

Don't know much about Gainey except I don't think they will be around much longer, as they have a terrible safety record.
Inspection Selection System (ISS-2) Recommendation*
(As of December 01, 2006)
Carrier Name: GAINEY TRANSPORTATION SERVICES INC
US DOT #: 275779 MC #: 182313
ISS Inspection Value: 100
ISS Recommendation: INSPECT
Basis for Recommendation: Safety
* The ISS-2 monthly run evaluates carriers' recent inspections activity. The ISS results are generated along with SafeStat on a monthly basis and are posted on A&I Online.
A score of 100 is the worst you can get. Work for Gainey plan on getting lots of inspections.

As long as i drove for Gainey I never had an Inspection. You can say they have the worst safey record but you need to look at warner, swift, jb, schneider, ect.
Gainey also pays HMG Miles. There are very few company's which pay practical miles anymore.

You also wrote almost ditto for Arrow...now here's the thing:
It specifically states in the ISS-2 guidelines for the above that no real consistent rating exists to fairly evaluate companies, so sounds kind of dramatic to state they are going out of business. If you go to A&I data available on DOT websites, you'll find all sorts of interesting info! Which co do YOU work for?? :?

When I drove for Gainey I never had a real inspection just the one for paperwork and everything checked out with me . Tje reason I left was because it was costing me more to drive on the east coast than I was making.

I'm set to attend orientation at Gainey the 7th in KS City KS ...I have seen their trucks/trailers at many locations ,And they always looked in good shape ,and pretty new , So I would put loose lug nuts simply down to a tire trepair that never got it's re-torque withing the 150 miles after putting the rim back on after all a loose rim is not defective eqipment it just needs tightening ... But if it''s loose and comes off it can kill a person easily as it weighs about 250+ pounds and would be moving at highway speed tires comming off trucks and killing people happens quite often .
I hope I can make Gainey work out well for me , So I'm going in with a positive attitude ,and will run as hard as needed to make $$$ there ...I just hope I get lucky ,and Get a T-600 that would be sweet I know they got them , But I don't know the realistic expectations of getting one being I don't have seniority there .
