One thing that most folks want is a break from time to time. I mean that they want to be able to get home. If you want to run from California I wouldn't put CFI very high on your list because they don't advertise hiring out of CA. CFI hires from CA but only if the driver is willing to state that he/she will be happy if the "getemhome" policy doesn't include the CA resident. CFI runs in and out of CA but without the necessary frequency that they can guarantee getting you home regularly.

I have been driving for 11 years and unless this company folds...I will retire here...I left home Oct 30 and returned Nov 18 and had to deliver the following Monday in Ft Worth and I turned 10,225 miles in that time SOLO!! @.40cpm. They will get you home every weekend or every other...IF you want to...I don't.

A diamond in the rough these folks are, and when they say "Speed Restriction: None" that is not a typo.

Orientation consists of "sign here, here, here, and here" Here's a truck and a load. Took less than 2 hours and that's including the road test. I went to Shreveport to go to work and I was on a plane to Indy the next day.

I drive an '05 Columbia condo with a straight 10 and NO QUALCOMM. They also give you $40 a month for your cell bill. Full and free benefits, and 401k. $19/hr detention/layover pay, and the same for breakdown pay.

F* the "Big Company BS" These guys are the $&!+!!!
Hmm, almost makes me wish hubby had 2 years experience. Wonder how much of Texas they hire in...
All of TX....

These 3 do take newbies and pay better than most of the other starter companies. They also have what appears to be above average training programs. They also hire from CA. I don't think Roehl takes new drivers from there.

Check for post by Kona he drives for Gordon and got a dedicated position recently, he lives in CA and started with them.

I wish I'd started my driving career at Crete and saved myself a lot of headaches and heartaches, but then I doubt I'd appreciate what I have here as much. Good luck!

That's good to hear, I graduate from school and will start with Crete right after Christmass. Gordon was my second choice followed by May, but I am very happy that Crete approved my application!
