If you haven't already, go to http://www.pumpkindriver.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi and you'll get good info about Schneider.

That must be one of those runs Americans don't want.
On a good week 2000 miles X 31 Cents per = $620 gross
$620 div by 5 = $ 124 Gross
$620 X 50 weeks per =$31000 Gross
After taxes your lucky to bring home somewhere over $400 per week never mind taking there insurance, Child Support, etc.
No disrespect driver but can we work any cheaper and still live?
We all need to get together and not do those types of runs.
Instead of paying you 25% of gross to the truck companeys sweetin the deal with not $$$ but benfits (home time, decataded, truck equ, hours, etc) to pay you cheaper to get someone to do the run.
Again driver I mean not disrespect to you but I hope that run works for you and you dont have to quit in a few month because you cant feed your family.

P.S. I hope thats home every night.

Greg

I don't mean any disrespect towards you Gnicholson30, but you don't know that this isn't a good deal for him. Maybe he values two days off a week more than better pay. Maybe he doesn't have a wife and kids to support. And I'm sure La Grange, KY is a much more affordable area to live than Detroit, MI. The only question I have is whether they are routing him home and back in the truck or whether he has to drive his car to the DC (too far of a drive for me).

I am looking into getting on this dedicated route myself after I get my CDL in April. Not because I am being lured by the great pay, but because the 2 days off a week is more important to me at this time than the money. I just hope I don't end up being another who thinks Mal-Wort dedicated totally sucks.

My point is Schneider is making money off the loads and also off the driver. There not being fair to the driver. I don't care about his personal wants and needs or what he values. A driver lives in a truck 5 days a week for less then $800-$1000 Gross per week he's being robbed! Cash is always #1 in business. Sounds like he's home on weekends, he also has cost of living on the road est. $100 per week. Not much left over.
I bet $5 (Big Bucks)he follows the industry standard turn over rate and quits in less then a year.
Living in Ky that might be a good job. (God knows theres none here in Mi)
He's still a driver, He still has a CDL-A and HIS butt on the line for any tickets.
Thanks for the reply Dunnowhattodowithmylife.

You hit the nail right on the head.

I just left Schneider after 15 months and found a home daily company that requires 1 yr experince OTR. I paid my dues with Schneider now I can be home daily.

I was on Schneider/Walmart in Ohio and I learned a hell of a lot about trucking did not make that much $$ but was treated well by Schneider and it paid off in the long run.
