Didn't look like a TMC truck. Could not see the Destination: Excellence words on the back of the sleeper, still, hope the driver is OK. Seems like since just the short time I've been around I read and see of wrecks/deaths/ etc. all the time. Makes a newbie wonder sometimes.

Hi ya'll. I've been keeping up with these forums for around 8 months now. I've been thinking about going back into truckin. I drove for 2 years OTR back in '85. So it's been awhile. I'm 49 years old and been at my currant job around 10 years now. I was told I'm at top pay and there is no room for advancement. Basically it's an deadend job. I've been looking at Maverick and TMC. After today I'm choosing TMC. Today on my lunch break I passed a TMC truck making a drop off. So I turned around and went back to talk to the driver. Let me tell ya, super nice guy. He's been with TMC for 8 years and he is a Owner operator not a company driver. I asked him how he liked working for TMC and he told me he loved his job. He drove an '06 387 Pet and it was paid for. He said he couldn't be happier. I asked for his name so i can get him the referral bonus when I make the call. He told me he wasn't eligible because he wasn't a Co. driver. Go figure. He also told me I live in a good area. I live in Fayetteville, NC and he told me there is alot of freight going out of Charlotte with Charlotte Pipe Co. And I may stand a good chance getting line haul. I was looking at long haul but I would take line haul in a second. I guess I'll find out more when I call TMC. Well the reason I'm writing this post is that the amount of time I've been keeping up on this forum I wasn't sure who or what to believe because of the referral bonus. So I wanna apologize for doubting what you guys been saying. And Fred, I may be calling you soon before I make the call to TMC. One of the things that I may have a problem with is that the City I live in has an ordinance about parking a big rig on your property. So i'm trying to figure out where i can park the truck when i get home.

I'm in week four. We can team now, I am getting 500 plus miles per day now. I should have over 12K 13K by six week. I'm in DM right now getting a tarp repaired, a few supplies and talking to training. We deliver in Southeast IA and I don't know where we will go from there.

4:20am Monday a TMC driver with a load of styrofoam crashed over the right hand lane of highway 40. The TMC driver is in serious condition. he was helped out of the cab into waist deep water and to shore. He is at St John's Mercy Medical Center in Creve Coeur.
50 to 100 gallons of fuel were spilled, Tmc hired Bellon Environmental to do the clean up.
I don't know if the driver is still in serious condition or hopefully at home now recovering.

Default Mc*****

I would not work with TMC they have to many specific ways of doing things and there drivers have a sort of attitude to them.

i dont think i have an attitude. most of the drivers i have come across seem ok. but some have a chip on their shoulder. so please dont lump all of us into the one or two bad run-ins with TMC drivers. everyone company has rules for loading, we are no different. maverick has rules, malone has rules.

Call me anytime. I'll give you some ideas on parking too.

I agree I probably DO have an attitude, but it's more a "New York City Thing" than a TMC thing. However driving some of the "sexiest" trucks on the road doesn't hurt either!
As far as the rules and "specific" ways of doing things, THAT'S what seperates a TMC driver from a LOT of other companies. Hauling open freight on a flat aluminum deck is not something that should be done anyway one feels like it. That's how DEAD happens. Almost every non-TMC flatbed driver I see could use a lesson or two in load securement and truck care from a TMC veteran.
Just my "four cents".
