They thought that, with computers, cellphones, and email, CB would just wilt and die (we couldn't BE so lucky  ). Most of it DID dry up as the general public went for the cellphones and electronic wizardry. What was left, except for a small niche, was a cadre of unthinking outlaws that were
entrenched in the "CB culture" and couldn't be satisfied with CB as it was meant to be and, worse, they had to have everybody else's frequencies, too! Next thing you know, there's these stupid "10 Meter 'ham' (yeah, the h--ll they are) radios" with "bands" of.........guess WHAT! CHANNELS!!!!!!!!! OH GOODY, GOODY MAW, AH GOTS ALL THEM THAR EXTREE CHANNELS THAR! Of COURSE, everybody isn't a raging CB outlaw and most CB ops actually use theirs for what it was intended for. It's the ones that turn screws and snip and clip stuff, LOUD and "PROUD (so THEY think), and think they gots dem rah'ts to tawk on them thar "spay-shul channels thar---[u]THEY DESERVE TO GET NAILED FOR THE NEW FCC RATE SCHEDULE THAT JUST WENT TO EFFECT------$18,000 PER OCCURANCE!!!!!!!!!!!

Some may think there's "radio nazi", etc, but why do you think that IS?? BECAUSE PEOPLE ARE SICK AND TIRED OF FINDING PEOPLE ON
THEIR FREQUENCIES!!!!!!!! The CB ops need to stay WHERE they BELONG because, um yeah, the folks "them channels" belong to will be MORE than glad to drop a dime to the Feds in a skinny minute. :x Just ask:

That's just a few! And it was "them radio 'nazis" that went out and documented the people DOING it!!!! I'm sure they'd even help you write out your $18,000 check!!!!

Cry me a river.

I wonder how much these Hams would be crying if they had their wings clipped to 4 watts? It can happen and just might if these little wars between Hams and CB radio operators don't quit.

Leave the big power to the emergency personel only. Then these hams will be doing alot of crying when they have to wait for skip or be satisfied with talking in town.

Hey rat, ever heard of ARES? Hams provide a backup communications network for emergency personnel is several areas when disasters disable the conventional communications networks. So what was that about reserving for emergency personnel?

Also, if you don't like the fact we have more power than get off your duff get some training and get your own license. Mine cost me a grand total of about 40 bucks and that included the book and the test.

Just some information, With the military and National guard having pretty good equipment then this little band you call "ARES" could be nonexsistant if the FCC felt a need.

But then CBs are all over the place and alot more popular then Ham so bite me on that one.

But then this little liscense for Hams would not do me any good because I run the 40 only and it doesn't matter if you have a liscense or not you can't "leagally" transmit more then 4 watts on the CB band anyway.

I quess some are just mad because their stock "legal" equipment keeps getting stepped on all the time.

So you guys just keep your whining all you want and calling the FCC. They are finally going to get sick of it and just put the end to it alland put the choke hold on the Hams also.

Rat,

It would do you some good to learn something about what you are running your mouth about!
F
First, ARES is not a band! It is a internationally none part of the ARRL, and is recognized by every form and level of government in this country!

2nd, as part of the Amateur Radio service, there is an organization known as MARS! MARS - Military Affiliated Radio Service - in which one has to be a licensed amateur radio operator to participate!

ARES and MARS, both play a very important role in disaster communications and public service! Just ask the City of New Orleans after Katrina, when their multi-million dollar communications systems failed in the first 24 hours. Or the importance of Amateur radios, in say, a state like California, where the operators play a huge role in spotting, reporting and assisting with coordinating resources during a wildfire! There are many, many more instances that can be attributed to the importance of Amateur Radio!

So that said, their is not even a remote chance, that the bands and frequency's that a licensed Amateur currently enjoy, will be taken away from the FCC.

As far as the Citizen Band, well, it too has had its uses in disasters! Last year while in Kansas during some sever flooding, I used not only my Ham Radio, but my CB to send reports to the Kansas Emergency Management center from the area I was running! Several responsible truckers were instrumental in relaying information and allowing the Highway crews to focus on the worst areas needing barricades, rescue operations and such! So yes, someone with a $29,95 Walmart special can help save lives too!

As for someone with you attitude, oh darn, I promised myself I would not make this personal, sounds like you only gives a hoot about yourself, and could care less about being part of a useful society! Oh, it does take some brains and common sense to get a Ham License, and a little bit to know how to properly use the equipment. CB's, well, they are just click and talk! Don't get me wrong, I own and operate several legal CB's!

Have a nice day!

OH, yea, almost forgot, get over it!

no I am not an "All about myself" type of person. What I am is against people that think they need to take it upon themselves to police others or to talk down on people for the things they do.

For people to piss and moan and cry because people like myself run CBs with more power so we can comunicate with other drivers kind of gets me going.

I run with alot of other drivers in our company because alot of us load in the same area and we all unload in the same plant. Many times we get a little to distant for stock Walmart specials or even Petro,Flying hook or TA specials. So we run better equipment that has been run through a quality "nonsmoke and mirrors" CB shop so we can have extended range comunications. We are nto talking about clipped limiters etc. We are talking about properly peaked and tuned equipment with more punch added by the way of internal mods.

My little special 29 classic can now reach out 2 to 3 times the distance a stock 29 would with the same setup. It is loud and clear and does ot bleed over.

It is nice to know many miles in advance if their is an issue on a highway that is causing backups so we can pick another route.

We are not hurting anyone with our radios.

Now there may be some problems with some of the "Super" Truckers in large cities etc were they are bleeding over everyones TVs etc and they know it and laugh about it. Personally I don't have any respect for these guys but then I don't go acting all pissy about it either.

So this ham VS CB thing dos not do anything but cause alot of problems among the users.

It is kind of like the hiker/mountain bikers against the motorized recreationalists. They want to shut areas down for the motor group and the motor group says that if things get shut down to them then they should shut the same things down to everyone period.

Same goes for the airwaves in my opinion.

Sure there are some outlaws out there but you can not fault a complete comunity because of a very few number of outlaws.

Got my new "firebox" today and can't wait to get her hooked up.

One thing I do have to ask, does RR and the other hams actually think they own the airwaves simply because they have a liscense?

It is not actually stealing unless you actually own it.

Now I own my house and everything in it and it would be considered stealing for someone to break in and take my stuff.

So this little fight about "stealing" frequencies is kind of mute I think.

I am not sure but is there not something in the FCC that says that we must except a certain amount of interfernce with our equipment?

Oh well back to getting my firebox installed.

I can't speak for RR or any other "ham" but I don't think "steal" or "stealing" would be the correct word(s).

The airways are control by International agreement. As such the F.C.C. allocate certain frequencies for certain services. One of these services is the "Amateur Service." Operation under the "Amateur Service", for the most part, requires a "
license" issued by the F.C.C.. Unlike the "Citizen's Band Services" which does not require a "license." As with and any operation certain restrictions apply.

As to "
interference." Any operation not approved by the F.C.C. is an illegal operation and as such is not allowed.

When a legally operating station has "
interference" they have the right to complain to the F.C.C. Once the F.C.C. receives a complaint they will determine if the "interference" is being caused by a legal or illegal transmitter. What action(s) is taken, by the F.C.C., is a determination they will make.

Your comparison between private property and legal/illegal operation does not apply. I would hope you know the difference. If you don't I would suggest you take the time to educated yourself to the differences.

I know the difference between private property theft and stepping into the wrong airwaves but RR makes them seem the same as if he actually owns the airwaves other then the CB band. And when someone comes into them then they are stealing from him so to speak.

It is more like having a liscense to drive or not having a liscense to drive. One is legal while the other is not.

Get it??? I hoep so.

The fines should be the same in my book.
