Using one gear lower than what you went up in is not meant to hold you back without braking. It's simply the highest gear you should descend in in order to maximize the engine's hold. You're still supposed to brake  Unless of course you have great Jakes 8)

I've always wondered, if they think straight pipes sound so good (according to bikers) why those bikers don't run tubing from their pipes up to their ears so they can thoroughly enjoy the sound? Instead, they drive away from the obnoxious noise (they are sitting in front of what's spewing out the back) leaving it behind for the rest of us to suffer with. I think it's their way of giving the rest of us the finger.

All righty then.

Went thru the motorcycle phase once, will I do it again - not now anyway. Just don't know why bikers think they need to dump all that noise in my car on the highway. It's painful when bikers pump out 100+ DB as they tear away from the stoplight. Like I said, I feel like they're giving me the finger for some reason. Haven't ever hit one, not even come close. Would be great if they'd keep all that noise to themselves. I wouldn't mind if they don't share.
I've stopped and been the first responder at more than one accident (not caused by me!). My remark in first post was inappropriate and hence edited. Just had to vent about those LOUD pipes from the person next-to-them (non biker) perspective. Don't know if it's the pitch of the pipes or simply the ++++DB but some really cause pain in my ears. I try not to drive while sitting on my head, I'm sure some will say I'm not always successful. That said, I'm off my soap box. Drive careful! |
Maybe I should clarify. My pipes are not loud, they are louder than stock pipes that come on the Harley that don't make any noise at all. I have the after market Rinehart pipes but are the slip ons which also have muffler inserts and are not straight through. My bike also passes NH states inspection which is one of the toughest in the U.S. for cars, trucks and motorcycles. Our inspection is so thorough I don't need the federal inspection on my commercial truck as the NH sticker supersedes it.
I'm in Minnesota at the moment. Time for a nap. I feel honored. The Potato King just pulled up next to me! What a treat. The highlight of my day! Now all I need is some cheesy puffs and a coke. |
