I have found "light glue" will attach a laser beam to anything. :P

Should I start a new thread about how to handle a truck with a curb window? It seems that criminals would be standing in the shadows just waiting to spot someone with a curb window leaving their truck and taking a duffle bag with them. I'm so serious to find out other's thoughts on how they would handle the situation. I'm thinking getting someone to weld a panel across it on the inside would work. Does this sound like the right thing to do?

why the paranoia? watch where you park and don't leave $3,000 in the truck,it was an isolated incident and probably had prior knowledge of the operation.most guys don't even lock their trucks.

I was on the road pretty early this morning heading for Surprise Arizona. Now I know why they call it Surprise. You would think with a name like that it would be Andy and Opie sitting on the porch. It was more like the Las Vegas strip. I punched in my destination to my handy GPS and it proceeded to almost lead me down a no truck street. I caught the sign at the last second and kept on going. I had to drive about 10 miles before I could find a lot big enough for me to pull in. I looked at all the directions the GPS was going to give me and it was a million streets. When the place opened up and I called the street was the next one down from the no truck street and the place was right there on the right. From now on I'm calling for directions. This is the second time this has happened.

What a ride going Rt 17 to Surprise. Hill after hill and one 6% grade after another coming down. I was pretty deaf from the Jake. I just can't believe that some truckers are screaming down the hills 20 feet from the car in front of them. I still remember what Rocky what's his name said that I should have my feet on the floor the whole way and that's been my motto since I started. It doesn't always work and sometimes I have to stab every once in a while.

I use Splenda for my coffee and ran out so I broke out my backup 5 pound bag of sugar. Now it's all over the black floor of my truck. The Dustbuster picked up most but not all. I'm assuming the crystal structure of the sugar is like a magnet to rugs. My truck is filthy on the outside, the windows are dirty, I have monkey butt and I think I have PMS.

The wind was blowing pretty good coming back over 17 a little while ago. I really don't know how to gage how much wind is too much. The speed limit was 75 and I caught up to a van real quick and he was doing 55 so I figured maybe that was a clue so I stayed with him. Does going slower lessen your chances of being blown off the road. Do I have to worry about that pulling a flatbed?

I pulled out of the parking lot after delivering my load and saw this blue haired 3 foot 110 year old woman coming down a side street to the stop sign and my 6th sense kicked in. She didn't even stop and went right across the road into the next. I stopped pretty quick and she went in front of me with 6" to spare. I would have hit the air horn but figured that would have killed her. Probably Aunt Bee on her way to Andy's house.

I have one more delivery but I'm out of hours and tired. I'm about 50 miles from the customer site and sitting at American something truck stop in Flagstaff. Just had a crapola catfish lunch, stale bread, mush for vegetables and watered down mashed potatoes.

Saw 3 Elk on the side of the road. Thought they were taking a nap then realized they were dead. They must have been together when crossing the highway.

Time to update my truck on the load boards for tomorrow and see if I can get closer to home.

Thank You for the great Posts, I am really enjoying this forum.
What Load Boards do you use other than the one here?

Thanks

I'm not worried about the cash which I would never leave in the truck in the first place. My laptop, GPS, Sirius radio, broken window...etc etc....

Still nobody talks to me except on a rare occasion. I bought a bunch of gum and chewed it up then stuck it to my teeth then filled my mouth with marbles and everyone was talking to me left and right like I was some super trucker!!!! Man, this guy must be a 50 year veteran hauling 300,000 pounds because I can't understand a word he's saying. Give me the mic honey, I want to talk to this guy!!! lol

So, you need to get your teeth pulled, put a plug of chewing tobacco in your mouth before you start talking on the CB. And don't forget to spit. That really makes an impression. I have had some of these people get mad at me for asking them several times to repeat what they have said. They buy these $400 radios, turn them up to full power along with the echo where you can't understand them. They wonder why you can't understand them on your cheap radio.

I have had my ham Lic for over 25 years now and my big rig will play on 10 meters so I may take that along plus my 2 mtr rigs, do you know if many hams use 2 mtr on the road or is everybody on CB

I can chew tobacco but would probably get sick and throw up in my truck.
course I have to get a truck first.

Quit smoking back in 81

Anybody on this forum older than 65?

Thanks Old Fart...LOL...You must be close to my age. Ha

I don't use the load board on here, I use The Internet Truck Stop and Getloaded but will probably cancel Getloaded.

I'm not really sure where I am at the moment. Some small town in Utah heading to Wyoming with a load of boulders. Got a $1.60 per mile and they also paid my dead head of 138 miles to pick up. I loaded up in the smallest town I've ever seen and it was so quiet it was deafening.

These guys take big 4 wheel drive straight flatbed trucks into the mountains with forklifts and pick up rocks on the ground. Anywhere from 3,000 to 7,000 pounds. They are flat, or close to it on both sides then they strap them to pallets and load me up.

I actually loaded up out in the desert and spent the night there as it was close to my 6pm bed time. Talk about dark. Just the led's from different stuff in my truck was enough to light up the inside. I made sure my truck was all set to go before heading off to bed. There was NO WAY I was going to go outside in the morning.

I woke up in the morning and reached over, hit the old Rigmaster button and 1/2 an hour later, nice and warm. Must have been 40 or so when I woke up. I get my Mr. Coffee ready the night before and put it beside my bed so I hit the button on that also. I tell ya, got my routine down pat and really enjoy the comforts of my truck.

No cell service and no internet last night until I turned on my internal net card and bingo, someone close by, not sure where, left there router wide open so I was able to at least read my email and surf a little before heading out.

I'm on Rt 190 or 191 heading into Montana and very pretty ride. The scenery once again has topped anything I've ever seen. I was dodging wild horses and cows this morning. I can't believe there are no fences or anything. You really have to watch for the sparkle in their eyes from the headlights.

At first, I'm driving down the road and off in the distance I see a white cloud bouncing up and down in the road. Now I'm freaked out. Looks like a ghost or something. Then, at the last second I realize it's a cow with a white face!!!

Now comes the good part which totally put me over the edge. It's 3am and I'm tooling along and all of a sudden there's a young girl maybe 15 just standing in the desert maybe 10 feet off the road. Now it gets good. Every mile or so there is either a boy or girl just standing off the road wearing dark clothes and a hooded sweatshirt. This went on the maybe 10 miles. I have no clue what that was about and in no way was I going to stop. I picked up my phone but no signal. I was going to call the police, not to report them but to get an explanation.

I'm heading to Yellowstone national park with these rocks and had to sign a paper along with my SS # to agree to a background check. No criminal background would be allowed. It's to someones house that's being built but I'm sure I won't find out who.

C.H. Robinson just called about a load going out of Yellowstone back to PA. They offered a whole $1.01 for a 48,000 pound load. I started to laugh and hung up.

Well, coffee and taco break over, off down the road again and through Salt Lake soon. Big freaking city.
