You could have the engine reuilt and rebuild the frontend and be good to go for alot of miles and know exactly what you have.
Thanks for the tip Scottt, I saw that truck a while ago,Its the white Pete located in Tifton Ga. I think this is its 4th-5th time listed...$14,000 which sounded good for a shell to work with...But I dont have much knowledge on an overhaul & front end work. I woud probably have a Pete dealer do the work and hope they didnt stick it up my a## too much. No matter what I look at other than a Pete...I keep migrating back to Peterbilt. So I'm locked onto the Pete 387...I'm just sitting in neutral waiting to find that perfect deal...Patience is one of my strong suits...so I'll wait it out till something shows up somewhere.

Keep an eye out for a Pete 387 Auto...Thanks Again !

I wouldn't pay over $7K for the Pete in GA.

If I had the engine rebuilt I would have Cummins do it, not a Pete dealership. Engine rebuild around $18K and frontend around $2K.

If you want a project I have a 03 387 465hp ISX with autoshift. Has oil in the water and water ooozzzing out of the head where it bolts to the block. (head gasket) Front cover leaks oil, Still runs good. Body has some battle wounds. $5k

I found another engine to put in it for $5750 which I am going to do in the spring if nobody wants it like it is. The 06 Freightliner I bought isn't half the truck as my Pete is.

I'll pass on the 03 project you have...Thanks anyway. I'm going today to look at an 10' Pete 387...but its kinda out of my budget to start out with. I passed on the freightliner as well...just waiting and looking for the right Pete 387 deal. It'll show up soon.
Keep you posted !

Tiny sleeper with a long frame, strange on an aero truck like that. And it has a 13 speed not an auto.

Thats the same thing I picked up on...plus the 3:70 rear end...mileage would be crap as well. The 26K price was making me contemplate the manual tranny...but my feet would stick out the side of the sleeper. Why would a truck have a long frame on it like that...?
Anyway thanks for the observations...Back to looking for a Pete.
