It is always best to limit your exposure to a single broker or shipper. That is true no matter what type of business you own. I never allow any broker to get too deep into me regardless of size. I would not be too concerned about some of the major brokers such as CH Robinson, Schneider or Landstar, but things can happen and I don't want to be the one left holding the bag if the company that I have extended credit has financial problems. As we have seen in the past 4 years or so, even the largest companies can get into financial difficulty. Just look at General Motors, Chrysler and some of the large banks. Who would have thought that Bank of America or American Express would get into financial difficulty? It can happen and I know that some did lose money with GM. It is best to keep exposure to a minimum and stay on top of your receivables. I don't have a problem doing business with a small broker as long as they have good credit and stick to their terms.

i have 0 problems with small brokers. i deal with a small broker called bridge logistics. they're great to deal with. they remember you by name, what lanes and what not. as far as ch robinson goes, most others do not like them. i have 0 issues with them. the load i'm on right now i'm getting $3.29 a mile on a 529 mile trip. i'm happy with it. i also deal with 2 brokers there. not 2 offices 2 brokers. again, its on a pesonal level.

with the broker in question here, the way i look at it, its a bit shady to not give out the credit rating. its just the way i look at it. how do i go about looking up ones credit rating? and the more i think about it, my dad is signed up with them. think he pulled a few loads.

RTS is one of the better credit reporting companies as far as Brokers and Shippers go. There is another one that I used that was good.....and for the life of me I can not remember its name, but it was associated with Transcore(DAT) and "The Gold Book" of freight brokers. It used to be a feature on the Internet Truckstop loadboard.
