Yeah good luck with that, I think the nearest place to park is a good hour away. Either that or the scale. Hopefully he gets on the boat early enough, grabs a berth and just zones out. I'm willing to bet it won't be a fun ride though.
Don't forget the gravol!

I stopped by the Ticket office before going to bed and they said nothing would be happening till morning when another ferry arrives from Newfoundland. 2 big ships are still sitting at the dock: one of them is Caribou that is taken out of service (I thought it was in a repair dock somewhere) and the other one is the Vision. Marine Atlantic is only LEASING the Vision and the owners dictate when and in what weather that ship can sail. For now it's grounded but they're thinking of putting trailers only on it later on. I'm waiting now for the Ericson to arrive from the Island and there's only 10 trucks in front of me. If I'm lucky, I'll leave Nova Scotia at 3 pm and be on the other side by the end of today. I just talked to the guy from the trucking company in St. John's where I'm now dropping this load and he said, "If you grab some sleep on the ferry, and a couple of hours when you're on the island you can start driving at 3 am and be at our yard probably around 3-4 pm". Either that or I'd have to sit in St. John's over the weekend and they will unload me on Monday, Dec-27th. I hate driving at night especially since I know the Island is famous for its moose, but today is Day 9 of the trip and I can't wait to finish it and get on with my life!

The entire trip - after you deduct the ferry tickets and apply my percentage - pays $6,070 to the truck. So far I've covered 2,346 miles including the 500 mi deadhead from my home to IL. After the ferry drops me off in Port aux Basques, NL I'll have to do another 500 miles to the consignee in St. John's. You do the math.

I don't think I"ll have time for the bars - my goal now would be to get in and out as quickly as possible. I hope to catch one more load before the end of the year. The Landstar board shows some good freight out of Quebec going into US.
