Is there a grace period on IFTA stickers?

I have a smart battery charger hardwired to my batteries. Whenever the generator is running, it's delivering 20 amps to the batteries.
The system does have limitations. I have to get out to start and stop it, I have to refill the gas tank, and since the oil capacity on it is so small, I have to add oil quite often (usually once a day if I'm running it for 12 hours or more). But for the $2500 invested in it, it's worth it.

Generally for the first few weeks if you forget to put on your IFTA stickers, but you have them on hand, they will let you go with a warning. I saw this first hand.
Not have IFTA stickers on hand, that is a completely different story.

Today I had a Level 2 inspection in Missouri.
When they asked for my IFTA paper I had a empty plastic sleeve. I put the 09 sticker and put the new paper in my book and sent the 08 paper back to the company with my load paperwork in Dec. Last Monday the girl in the office wanted my permit book. She was suppose to take out the old cab card and put in the new temp cab card and exchange my lease agreements with the 09 agreements. I think she took my IFTA paper out in the process by mistake. They gave me a citation for not having the paper in the truck. I asked how much the fine was and he said I would have to call a number on the citation to find out. That was my first inspection and it wasn't as bad as I expected. Everything was good except not having that paper in my book.

If you have the sticker,...put it on before the deadline. I had mine mailed to me in Grand Junction last year, it was too cold to put it on and the DOT didn't care, 1 day after the due date,....$175.00 ticket. It all depends on who is having a bad day and if they have ,....they have you,...no excuses.
Mine have been on this year since Jan 1. Take you hand out of your glove,..warm up a spot and stick that puppy on.

The 09 sticker and credentials show be on and with you by March 1,......I don't think they can/will do anything to you,...but if you have the sticker now,....put it on before you lose it, that was my point, and also,...yes these guys (DOT) will write you on anything they can,...and some of them don't even know the reg's. I went a few rounds with these guys in the last year,...the best you can do is try to know the reg's and stay compliant. Keep your papers in order and your truck in good shape.
