LOL this thread is getting interesting again.
I bought my generator today. A nice little 2500 watt Honda. ![]() I'll be adding this fuel tank to it. 8.25 gallons. ![]() Total cost of the generator: $375 Total cost of the fuel tank: $99.00 Generator is 68 dB, which is comparable to normal conversation. With it inside the box, it will be a lot quieter. I'll run the exhaust outside the box, which will now have a lot of room inside it. The extra fuel tank will be installed on the catwalk. 2500 watts will run the AC with ease. So let's see.......$475 for a Honda generator vs. $8000 for a Rigmaster POS. Hmmm..........decisions, decisions.

That Honda will be pretty quiet even if you have it out in the open. The only problems you will have are:
1.Keeping it cool, I would open up the airflow in your box and possibly add another cooling fan to push air in while your other one pulls the air out. 2.Be sure to place the fuel tank as close to the same height that the one it has is. The float valve in the carb. will not be able to hold back the extra fuel pressure if you put it too high. Does it have a carb. or EFI? Good luck, and this time your new name will be "The Torch" if you light her up

I'm going with this one as soon as I figure out how to mount it.

No heat, no automatic battery monitor, no engine block heater, no automatic startup or shutdown and the biggest pain in the butt will be carrying around a gas can to fill it up every single day instead of running of your trucks tanks.

My Optimas can handle anything I throw at them without needing to be monitored. Starting it up and shutting it down is no big deal. I am capable of walking outside my truck to start it. I'm not that lazy. Not going to carry a gas can, and even if I did, I could use some of that $6000 that I saved to pay someone else to fill it up. |
