This ill prob get me banned but Twilight Flyers small man attitude stinks!!!!
Well, if you felt the need to hijack this thread and insult a moderator who's fed up with childish behaviour, I hope you get your wish. :!: Gman, I hope you have talked to your own doctor by now about the swelling. I'm not trying to diagnose a problem via the Internet, nor do I have a medical background but an old friend of mine (we're both mid-50s) ignored a small cut that wouldn't heal on his foot. Like many men he hadn't seen a doctor in years (he's not a trucker, so no physicals for his licence). By the time his sister talked him into going to the emergency room, it was too late to save two toes and part of this foot, a result of an infection that got worse because of undiagnosed diabetes. And a month later, he's still in the hospital. That's a long-winded point to never ignore a small problem, especially those of us who can remember when diesel was 45 cents a gallon and CB radios required a licence.

Thanks Professor and Arky. I wanted to wait to see if the swelling would go down and see if I could wait until I could see my own doctor. I did see him today and he told me that I busted a main blood vessel and that he thought that I had about 1 1/2 pints of blood in the side of my leg. He isn't sure if it is still seeping or not. His main concern seems to be whether I have a blood clot which might let loose and hit my lungs. That would not be a good thing. I have to go back to have an ultra sound done on Thursday. That will tell him what we are dealing with. I have circulation in my leg and foot, but the blood isn't returning as it should right now. The thought is that I have an aneurysm in the leg. He doesn't want me to do any driving right now, but that isn't possible unless I can come up with a couple of good drivers in short order.

Man, if this had been just a month or two earlier, I have a friend that has been flatbedding for about 3 years. He's been waiting for his wife to get her CDL and their going to drive for Fedex White Glove starting next week. But anyway, he quit his job just before Christmas and then it's just been one delay after another and he's been begging for something temporary to help with the bills. But, it's too late for that, I think they set their orientation schedule today.
But still, I would sure like to see ya listen to the doc. I'm assuming your committed to a customer or amybe customers, but hopefully you can work something out. Take care of that leg and get yourself healed up.

I am glad your friend found a good position, arky. Finding qualified drivers is always a challenge. Hopefully, the doctor will give me the OK to drive after Thursday. Even without a blood clot, the healing process could take several months, according to my doctor. I can't afford to take that much time off work. I could probably do more dispatching. I haven't really spent much time building that part of my business. I have some good paying freight coming out of Tennessee for the next few weeks. I could probably keep ten trucks busy with those loads. They are mostly for side kits. But, I still prefer driving myself.
I plan on following the doctor's advice, if I can. In any case, I need to work.

Oh yes, believe me, I understand about the "should do" and "gotta do" delemna..LOL.
I'm sure you could keep several trucks busy given your connections and years of experience. In fact, you could probably be a great service to A LOT of o/o's just getting them some decent paying freight. Best of luck and hopefully the doc will give you a good report thursday! |
