Load it, I'm hauling 5,000# of ductwork. It worked out to be 1000 miles for $1900. About $1400 after fuel, and it delivers late Tuesday.
My truck should get between 8-8.5 on this load, and provided I can get out of there with a load, it will be a good run for me.
I've been stuck in Houston all weekend and I should have planned better. I'll never unload in Houston on a Friday again. You've got to be loaded and gone by early afternoon Friday, or you're gonna get to know the truckstop people on a first name basis.
I'm looking at car haulers right now, and if all goes well, I'm going to buy one after the first of the year. The reasons are as follows.
1. I'm tired of sitting around
2. I'm tired of not being able to work on weekends
3. I'm tired of low rates
4. I'm tired of slow paying brokers
5. I'm tired of factor fees because of number 4.
6. I like to work hard and be rewarded for it.
7. I like a challenge
8. I've worked with cars for 30 years and it seems a good match.
9. I'm too stupid to realize what I'm getting myself into.
10. I can work close to home and make a lot more than this van freight.
Am I on the right track or derailed?
