Well probably my last post on this topic (untill you all start insulting me over what an idiot buy I made LOL) .
Well I'm beat ta hell after staying up most of the night with anxiety, I had much to be anxious about too lol, these auctions are full of dealers who know better then methe pit-falls of buying a truck at auction(shit I felt like a sheep amoung wolves).....hmmm think I coulda did a bit better too (probably shoulda took the Sterling.
I ended up with a 2001 Freightliner, Centuary, Detroit, w/690,000 miles for 19,000......yeah kinda high on the miles n that suxs :-p , but the frame and body is what impressed me to buy it, I dont see any rust anywhere which impressed me, almost every older truck I looked at (in California) had rust somewhere. Hmm on savings not as much as I hoped but not bad, this truck woulda ran for 29,900 in California, and woulda been hell to bring them down much....hmmm maybe 27,000?
Few dings in it but nothing bad, took it to the motel after I bought it, n worst mehanical problem I see right now is the speedometer doesnt work, but when I ran for PST I had a couple of trucks given to me that way and they ended up being good running trucks that never stranded me anywhere....so well crossing my fingers I can get 150k outta it n make a little $ on it.
Oh yeah its an old Warner truck, I see the stickers for a Warner pm as late as 2006 and its Warner blue....I can live with that color, yeah no pics for quite a while since I am still 6 states or so from home.
Oh yeah woulda loved the 2004 Pete it went for 38k and only had 450,000 miles, but even tho I coulda had the $ to buy it that woulda left me with almost 0 for operating expenses and a couple bad brokers later woulda had me singing real blues songs.

Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats to you!!!! Sounds like an ok truck to me but I'm no expert. I think you did the right thing buying something cheaper then you'll have some money left over to fix those little things. Now go buy a bottle of Jose Quervo and get plastered in your hotel room and have a good nights sleep.

YA DID GOOD!!!

Congratulations on the truck purchase, Pepe. I am sure you will do fine with the truck. You may want to have a dyno and oil analysis if you are nervous about the miles. It could help you catch something before it gets too bad and might set your mind at ease. You can take it to any Freightliner or other major truck dealer for that to be done. You can also take it to any Detroit engine distributor.

What a joke! you bought a worn out, over used piece of crap Werner truck that will do nothing but cost you money,Just kidding....congrats,you will get your money out of that truck and more,I think you did fine, yeah miles are high but I ran my Detroit to a million miles before I had any problem,I think if you run it for 2 years at most and move up another step you will be fine, don't do like me and keep your truck too long,I kept mine til it had 1.3mil on it and it was killing me at the end over 16k in repairs each of the last two years, good luck and post some pics when you get home.

The money you saved will help pay for repairs. You can always sell it back in CA too if you don't like it.

Depending on your route, you can meet up with Steve.

Congratulations, you did OK! That truck in this area would be priced about the same as you paid.

Pepe, maybe I missed it in a previous post, but I'm wondering if you have any kind of insurance to cover the truck during the drive home? I've heard it can be a problem finding coverage for that situation.
