The topic of money and rates are always a sore subject. Even if some stretch the truth, some of us do quite well, the moving guys do well, some who use load boards do well and the ones that have there own dedicated customers do well. It can be done.

another one falls by the wayside. DANG this one really hurts.

$1600/mile for 415 miles. Legal SD load. No Tarps. 9,000 lbs.

We're driving right by the door with a full trailer getting only $2.40/mile but I can't get an empty one down here in time.

So may loads, so few drivers. Sigh.

Wow, you must be like, Super Fly Trucker. That works out to $66,400.00
Man, that's almost as much as Rev says he gets!

Almost, but not quite. I don't move my truck for less than $1900 per mile.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
That's always been one of my favorites.

They must've blown it all on hookers, booze, and drugs!
As long as none of the three were cheap, sounds like a memorable 20-30 years!

When you have nothing to lose, and the whole thing is an "adventure", as Steve puts it, then your motives are different from a LEGITIMATE businessman, and anyone looking at this as a TRUE representation of how to purchase and operate an OTR trucking business is in for a shock. I don't complain for Steve's benefit - I complain for everyone else's benefit, so they don't think this is the way to operate.
If someone goes out and buys a truck based on stuff they read in this thread, there's no hope for them anyway, agree?

Funny how you guys are like a bunch of old ladies gossiping and also putting words into my mouth that I didn't say and then you fuel off each other.

Oh well.....

So, I delivered my load to Aspen along with 7 other flat beds. A new experience to say the least getting in and out of some tight places with people pouring in to go skiing. I was a little nervous about the mountain road up to Aspen. Looks like when you cater to the rich it's not a problem. It was a huge 2 lane road all the way with perfect everything of course. Cappuccino stores every 5 miles and liquor stores to match.

It took about 4 hours before it was my turn to get unloaded. If I had known the road up was so nice I would have gone up the night before but didn't want to be on a mountain pass late at night. When it was my turn it took about 15 minutes to unload me. 2 big fork lifts with expert drivers. Good thing I took the chains off before it was my turn or I would have held up the next guy. Off and running like I'm driving my Mustang now that I don't have a load.

I already got 7 calls to take some loads but turned them all down. One was an LTL that paid like a full load but was to WY and I need to get home in the next 2 weeks or so.

I noticed coming through the mountains in Colorado that tons of trucks were not using there Jake brakes. I was empty and had mine on full in 9th and was holding my speed. These other guys had there foot on the brakes the whole way down. I got on the CB and asked why they weren't using there Jake's and they said because they had straight pipes and no mufflers!!! The cops were all over the place too.

I went over one long bridge and there were like 6 bumps in a row spaced about 200 yards apart. On each one the back end of my trailer was in the air. No sign or anything warning you. Couple miles down the road there's a sign, "BUMP". It was the size of a hot dog. GEEZE!!!

So here I sit waiting for my next load. My truck is posted as available for tomorrow so I should have something. At least it's not Friday and running the risk of nothing until Monday.

Ok ladies, your turn.
