What would payments be on a new truck?

I would like to add something to what Solo said about market value. One thing I have noticed is that different brands of trucks will sell for different prices according to the region of the country. For instance, I have noticed that "hoods" seem to sell for less in the Northeast and New England, than the same or similar truck in the West or South.

From a purely business sense it would seem that the Pete 387 would be the one to buy new. It costs less new and has the lowest depreciation.
But then there is the emotional side of things....chrome, texas bumper, stacks stickin way up, tradition, etc. Oooh those Sirens can really sing...

Why would anybody pay 135,000 for a new Volvo, KW, Pete. I got a new Pete 379, 70" sleeper, 475 Cat 18spd, fully loaded bought for less then 115,000. Just depends on where you shop.
I met a owner operator the other day that had a 2007 Pete 379, long tall and all the bells and whistles. He did not say what he paid for it but he told me his truck payment was $3500 a month and he needs 4,000 miles a week to make it work but he is leased to Tyson Foods and is only getting 2,500 a week. He said he can make his truck payment, pay his insurance and send $400 a week to the house. That sucks for him, he gets behind one payment and he will never catch up. I like my $1,300 payment woo-hoo.
Personally, I think it would be prudent to not spend more than $25,000. You can find a good truck for that amount of money. The main reason is to keep payments low

As far as your $115,000 Pete, you overpaid. Mine cost a lot less than that when I bought it last year. Just sayin.

I'm sure those new trucks are nice, but how in the world can you justify spending that much, when you could get something in very good condition for half that? You still get a nice truck, and more money in your pocket. But, what do I know? I'm just a dumb company driver. 8)

You could also get an ex-Schneider International 9800 and old dog reefer trailer. It may not be pretty to look at or go fast but it'll make money and you can pay it off fast and own it outright
