Containers pay great money directly from the ship/rail line. What is passed on to the O/O is what sucks. The man with the authority wins everytime!!! With no authority, you really have no authority. I'm not trying to argue, just giving you something to consider as a business man. You cannot back up anything you post. All show and no go.

its not the rate but all the time it takes to do container work
besides what I mentioned depending on the distance you lose a day every other day just dumping an mt and picking up a load. then you may be with a situation where you picked a load up at berth 80 but the mt box goes back to a depot in Newark and chassis goes to Croxton then you lose 2 days

This is my gripe and then I will leave you alone. You give advice as if you are some authority on the subject. You talk a good game. Broker since 97 etc. But just like telling 379 you have contacts in NJ and he should get authority etc. It turns out you have no idea what it takes to accomplish such a task. For a broker you should know this. Quite frankly I don't think you know that much except numbers. You seem to have access to invoices. But other than that.....
Also those direct shippers are junk. We discussed in length how food warehouses suck. What do you come up with? Freakin food warehouses! This type of work is major hump jobs, to every little bodega and every alleyway loading dock with black marks on the door from people kicking it. It seems your working weekend idea is grocery or store delivery by the contacts you showed. Thats what I always wanted to do. Deliver Shop Rites on the busiest day of the week. "Driver can you pull the cardboard trailer out, back yours in to unload , then put the cardboard trailer back in when your done?...Thanks" I do love your posts though and I do have a list of power only nursury shippers for the Spring.(you must have own authority) (if your interested)

You would need years of pier experience to even consider such an endeavor. and someone in the biz since 97 should know this this is pretty much unatainable for the o/o's on this board You need to be familiar with : Customs Freight releases Demurrage, demurrage, demurrage interchanges chassis pools appointments unloading fees phantom damage bills extortion terminations did I mention demurrage? There's plenty more
