lol14 more days, and the first month of the contest is over. I ain't sayin a thing till then, and I'm gonna need a few days to get paid on whatever shipment I send paperwork in for around the 22nd. 2nd set of paperwork was sent in about 15 minutes ago. My 2nd shipment of the contest. Third one is partially loaded, picking up the 2nd part tomorrow, and then jumping down to D.C. to pick up 4 crates off the dock. They had better give me the uncrating on it or there will be hell to pay. Oh yeah, and I got another $500 tip on the one that went up to Canada. That makes $1100 in tips between these two shipments. 8)

My payment is 545/wk, plus 11cpm.
As far as smashed furniture, those we refer to as claims in bedbugging. Those don't count towards (or should I say) against us, as they are an expense. I think that theres going to be several winners, as we have different operating costs, so I think a "bottom line" prize will also poke its head, as we will break down our jobs, and how we did them. Teal and Rev are road dogs like me, but I get the benefit of doing commercial moves and local moves when I am in town from my agency. Of course, the other guys stay on the road doing decent linehauls, so first month is not really an issue yet. 2nd month should be a lot more transparent. I don't know how extensive I'll getb with my figures on the board, but I'll try to keep it real, as I will tell the other guys in more detail so we get a better understanding of where we're going with this. Lets just say, my truck makes over $5 a mile, loaded and empty 8)

Another thing we have in common with freight drivers- shippers lying aout shipping weight. Rather, the agent or estimator over or under estimating the weight, although usually by error or mistake.
For instance- today, I was estimated at 13,600 lbs and when I scaled it, it came up as 15,700lbs. The difference in the 2 niches is that bedbuggers like heavier loads, and freight haulers generally like lighter loads (assuming they pay the same as heavier ones). Great customers today, they had a bad pack crew yesterday but loved me and my service. Paid 600 to get it on, but its part of doing business (4 guys, 60 miles 1 way travel time and gas for them). Dispatch switched laods so I could get the customer's buddy's overflow from the warehouse, also going in that neighborhood in Wisconsin. Rev- keep up the tips, I'm in the 500 dollar range, you got the charisma, or just the nice customers. I do a lot of COD, maybe thats what hurts? 8) 8)

24,000lbs, 3 shipments running up to WI then a day or two of hometime. Hometime only means packing and loading 22K and a car for my agent
Revenue $ Revenue$....... I still think I'm trailing the other two

Revenue $ Revenue$....... I still think I'm trailing the other two  I've got my next trip pre-planned already - 22,000 lbs out of Florida going to PA. Dispatch is paranoid about the load, and they don't want me to leave an overflow, so they have told me that they will only let me throw on another shipment that is under 4000 lbs (even though there is a 6500 lb one that I really want). That one should pay decently (a little over $5.00 per mile, or $500 per day - if I only had the 22,000 lb one). another 4000 lb shipment will put me into the $7.00 per mile, or $650 per day range. But since that one unloads after the 22nd, it won't be counted in this month, which could leave me lacking for the first month.I just want to make sure we are all on the same page here, since the end of the first month is 12 days away - the numbers posted are what the ACUTAL settlements are, not what the carrier got paid. I just want to be sure that when I have $10,000 paid to me for a trip, that one of you other two isn't going to come in and say that your load paid $25000, when you didn't get the entire $25K...... Also, I think that when the end of the contest comes around, any shipment that is loaded before the end of the contest can count towards the total, even if it is unloaded after the end of the contest (since technically it would be considered a summer shipment). That should help with the fact that I got a bit of a head start over you two. Judging by the poll, I am going to come in dead last, and it's really eating at me. Nobody loves me! Currently at $1,140 in tips for the month. |
