Are you implying that he didn't want to rescue him? NOT at all. just listening to law scholars debate what the choices were. if it were bush in office I would cheer him if he gave the order to rescue any American anywhere, anytime. I give Obama credit due here.

One each 2LT, SSG and two squads of fine American Infantrymen on every US flagged vessel, be it tanker, cargo or cruise ship.
End of problem on our ships. Beats sitting in the hot sand of Iraq....

The A-10 doesn't have much loiter time over a target. F-18's wouldn't be much better do the distance they would have to travel. Plus the lenght of Somali area would make it pretty hard to be on sight in time to stop a pirates attack. Best approach to me is to arm the ships. kc0iv

Skywalker, Where do you plan on basing these aircraft?
The A-10 doesn't have much loiter time over a target. F-18's wouldn't be much better do the distance they would have to travel. Plus the lenght of Somali area would make it pretty hard to be on sight in time to stop a pirates attack. Best approach to me is to arm the ships. kc0iv
