I guess 2 of the pirates had their heads sticking out in the open trying to get fresh air and the other one was inside the boat in front of a window and 3 Navy Seal snipers took all 3 of them out simultaneously with one shot to the head!!

My brother-in-law spent eight years in the US Navy and knew a few SEALS. They are bad-ass sumbitches and you DON'T wanna piss off the SEALS. Need a difficult job done? Just send in the SEALS!!

Even in the largest version, there isn't a lot of open space available, and the top does not come off. Those things are designed to ride extreme storms out, while maintaining water-tight status. They are also designed to self-right if rolled over by waves.

Thats it Stan. There was no shot while they were sealed up inside the lifeboat. They had to wait for 3 different shooters to have a simultaneous shot in rolling seas. Even then you have to hope the fourth guy gives up without a fight or killing the hostage. IMO whoever gave the command to fire could easily have been on the hot seat today if it went wrong. Lets just be happy it turned out the way it did and applaud these guys for doing a very difficult job instead of criticizing how they did it. We were not there and we have no clue.
Edit: I just found out the fourth pirate was already aboard the USS Bainbridge negotiating the Captain's release. Last edited by Snowman7; 04-13-2009 at 12:46 AM.

Before praising Obama for his "order" you should stop and consider what that order really was.
He issued orders to use force when and only when the on site team determined the Capt Phillips life was in imminent danger. Other wise they were to continue negotiations.
