Someone else mentioned Fry's. They have a store in Dallas that has some good buys. I just checked their fliers and they have one advertised for $349 and another for $549. I have owned a couple of Toshiba's. I paid much more than $500 for both. I think that I paid about $1,100 for one and $1,800 for the one I have currently. I won't pay that much for my next computer. Toshiba has a problem with cracking around the hinges. IBM doesn't seem to have that problem. They make their hinges out of metal. I can't see paying a lot of money for a laptop unless there are some things you absolutely MUST have that you cannot find on a cheaper computer.

yeah, was looking at that exact one on BestBuy's website yesterday. There is one about 5 mi from where i'm at now. I've gotta live unload in 90 min., then afterwards, drop my trailer at the terminal, and bobtail to bestbuy.

I purchased my laptop at Circuit City. Thank goodness I didn't get the extended warranty!

I have a Toshiba Satellite. I've had it for about 4 years. I had a bad virus last year, and I had some drivers replaced. Other than that, I've had good luck with it.

Best Buy has good deals on computers from time to time.

If you chose to buy one from Best Buy beware of the ones that have been Geek Squaded.

I bought an HP laptop that had been tweaked by Geek Squad. They had removed all the trial software before they made the recovery disks. When I ran the disks it locked up the hard drive.

Good Luck

i dont ever let anybody i know take their computer to Best Buy for repair, let alone ask any of them questions. I've got a guy who runs a computer parts and repair store, that i take my stuff there. Geek Squad is nothing but a rip off, and half the people in there are still in high school....and before anybody asks.....'why dont you take yoru laptop there'.....well because he is in iowa....and i am in colorado. and i want a laptop NOW..... =)
