According to MDOT maximum legal length of a michigan B train from nose of first trailer to end of second trailer is 65'. Maximum of 11 axles and max gross weight of 164,500 pounds.

Turnpikes are deemed safer for LCVs (triples, turnpike doubles) because the road has a limited amount of entrances and exits and those that they do have are controlled (as compared to "standard" interstate).
While I have never pulled triples I have yanked around doubles and turnpike doubles. With the turnpike variety it is quite interesting. They are not really any harder than pulling a 53 foot with the tandems all the way back, it is just that they seem to go on forever when looking out your mirrors.

Oregon, Idaho and Nevada allow triples, also Lost Wages (Las Vegas) allows gravel trains to pull double 48s in town

Flaming? Not really. Just not used to someone getting all excited about something I see everyday. Besides that, I think someone needs to shoot that cat. And NO, they were 53ft trailers, said so right on the side.
