Who'd a thought, Tom?

I was a primarily a Radio Teletype Operator, and held a few other Signal positions in my 12 year active duty/National Guard stint. To include high speed Morse code and tactical satellite operations. I sure am aging myself with the Morse code reference. :P

I should remind all of the young whippersnappers out there that Morse code was indeed, the first form of digital communications!

Just a guess, Tom. Were you a member of the 'smoke signal' platoon? Or am I aging you toooo much?

Turnpikes are deemed safer for LCVs (triples, turnpike doubles) because the road has a limited amount of entrances and exits and those that they do have are controlled (as compared to "standard" interstate).

While I have never pulled triples I have yanked around doubles and turnpike doubles.

With the turnpike variety it is quite interesting. They are not really any harder than pulling a 53 foot with the tandems all the way back, it is just that they seem to go on forever when looking out your mirrors.

Oregon, Idaho and Nevada allow triples, also Lost Wages (Las Vegas) allows gravel trains to pull double 48s in town

I see triples every day here on the west coast. I've also seen double 53's in Kansas running the interstates. What's the big deal anyway?

Flaming? Not really. Just not used to someone getting all excited about something I see everyday. Besides that, I think someone needs to shoot that cat. And NO, they were 53ft trailers, said so right on the side.
