Well, someone has to do the work. If the union workers won't, then companies will need to hire whom ever they can who WILL work. If they need to hire immigrants to do it then so be it. They should fire the union workers and hire pay the immigrants what they are paying the useless union workers who are sitting on their laurels all day.

Lebron, you and some others seem to take great pride in being paid for NOT working. It makes me wonder.......

Quit wondering and find out for yourself! If you like working I'll put in a good word for ya! I assure you we at UPS work as hard or harder than any of our counterparts, union and non-union both. It wasnt like this when we were Overnight and non-union. So the union didn't make our job any easier and UPS doesn't tolerate laziness.

BTW are we going to be done with this anytime soon. If not we need some new material. This :dung: is really getting old. Nobody ever wins! Regardless of what you say I'm done.

Not gonna post again.

Thats it, you cant suck me back in.

I'm out!

I mean it!

OK I thought about this some more and I'll try to put it in perspective. (What can I say I work nights so I cant sleep  ).

I have a new home on 3 acres and a beautiful wife of 25 years. Most of my family is within 25 miles of me. Friday I used a vacation day and stayed home to have a bonfire with some friends. Today I played golf. Tomorrow I'm going to shoot skeet in the morning. Tomorrow afternoon I am having my annual fantasy football draft party. Why would I want to live in a truck? I love my life. But a job is just a job to me, nothing more. Perhaps some of you have nothing to come home to so you enjoy the road, I dont know. Obviously thats your life. Bottom line is I'm happy and if ya'll are happy doing your thing then thats great! I still think we can share information without arguing. There are newbies and fence riders who are trying to learn as much as they can. If they weren't interested they wouldn't keep starting these threads. None of us start the actual thread, we just keep throwing gas on the fire. They have to decide what works best for them. Let's try to continue sharing information without everyone always getting defensive.

Wonder about what? Bottom line is that if I'm on the job, then I expect to be paid. Just like 100% of other union or non-union blue collar jobs besides trucking. It's as simple as that. The only exception is for a lunch break which the company deducts 1/2 hour out of my daily pay.

Until I got into trucking, I never encountered a group of people who argue so hard about not getting paid for their time. Nor have I met a bunch so happy with penny raises either. It's truly amazing when you think about it.

Whatever. All I know is that these OTR freebies are bullshit. I don't know why you people put up with such nonsense, but if that's what makes you happy then have at it. Whatever rocks your boat. Just don't expect me to work, wait, or drive for free. My time and labor are worth more than that.

Snowman's right, this thread's worn it's welcome out long ago. It's senseless arguing with people who assign a $0.00 value to their time, so I'm done here.

Why, indeed?

BTW, the Browns look good this year, Snowman. They really made some nice off-season moves.

One hell of a post LBJ.

I more or less gave up on these its a lifestyle OTR guys. They will never understand. It cracks me up when they say union workers dont work. That right there means they dont have a clue. I dont know how these warehouses work but i know if you are in paving and dont work you will be done.

If you look where the Big three are losing it comes down to what the UNIONS DEMANDED IN THEIR CONTRACTS. When the only person allowed to change a lightbulb is someone that gets more on their morning coffee break than my wife gets in a day there is SOMETHING WRONG THERE.

Sorry but I do not want to see the Employee Free Choice act passed for the reason we would see a RETURN OF WHAT THE UNIONS USED TO DO . Basically strong arm you to signing a card by saying either sign our we will break your legs. We as a nation do not need to see that again.
Well he should have never stabed his union brothers in the back and crossed that line. My grandfather was also in the Teamsters. He loved hoffa. My dad told me storys where he would get into a fist fights with a non-union workers if they talked down on the teamsters or hoffa. I am not union but i do support them 100% i will not cross a line no matter what. My grandfather went from like 7/hr back in the day to 10/hr overnight all because his shop went union. If my pay went up that much i would love hoffa and the teamsters too. His shop also told all the men they were going to close the doors if they went union and told them all not to vote it in. Guess what they are still trucking too this day.

In my eyes Jimmy Hoffa was a great man and did alot in his time for the blue collar truck driver.
Mackman you are aware that Hoffa let the Mafia take over the TEAMSTERS Retirement fund right. He was also Stripped and banned from membership of the Teamsters leadership for 5 years . He actions also led to the Goverment oversight board of the Teamsters that is still in effect after 20+ years still trying to get rid of all the Mafia members. He was NOT a great man HE WAS A CONVICTED FELON. He cost more men and women their retirement and ruined more companies that were successful than can be counted. His cronies that were still in charge when deregulation came out dang near destroyed the trucking industry because they thought that they could keep getting whatever they wanted and refused to do what was needed which was give back some of the wages and benefits. The greed of the Teamsters Union almost killed the very industry they ruled if not for the deregulation of it.
