I don't get botherd by the lizards all that much, but I see them and hear them on the CB all the time......They're bad at the Amarillo TS's...Usually when I see them approaching I just wave my hand and shake my head and they veer off somewhere else......When one doesn't get the clue and comes to my truck,I say hang on a second,I'll call my wife and see what she thinks,or even a simple no thanks....

You see a lot of these annoyances everywhere these days...besides just the Truck Stop. I see this sort of stuff at my picks and drops too. Hookers and drug dealers trolling the sidewalks in front of the loading docks. A car with a female in the back seat with a couple dudes in the front seat, trolling real slow looking up at you, as they drive through the TS lot.

But...you just deal with it. I can go through any City even in my POV and see the same business going on.

I have seen enough to where I recognize it quick, and for the most part, as people mentioned, if you don't encourage them, they leave you alone. Of course, there are those that wake you up out of a sleep at all hours...or those who don't take your rejection easily.
Others as they approach, you just give a no nod, and they shuffle on.

The junk dealers don't usually take the nod no. They feel if they "talk" to you...they can somehow convince you to buy their worthless crap.
-----------------------------------------------------------------

On the other side of this...there are Truck Stops I enjoy, some I like a lot, and many I find okay for the most part. Even some of the older TS's...some have a certain appeal to me. I have been to so many places, as I drive almost every lower 48 and Canada at some point. I remember the places I like, and what I liked about them. Some I look forward to stopping at, and try to plan my trip accordingly. Some even have wonderful views...at least to me. One in particular is the TA at Parowan, Ut. on Hwy 15. I just like the white cap mountain view and it is generally a quiet TS.

I have my fill of bad spots, but over all I have an equal share of good spots I like. For me at least, I am easy to please. If I see the shower is rank, I'll just find time to shower where I know I can get a cleaner room. But it hasn't been past me to even summons the Porter and ask for additional cleaning. I'd rather wait the extra 15 minutes, as to schedule another break. But again, I know which places have clean showers, and after a while in this business, you will find yourself planning your trip according to where you know you can get fuel at a good price, fuel quicker and easier, good food, clean showers, plenty of parking, or nice quiet spots. You just know after a while, and other than that...in trucking you also learn to take the good with the bad.

As far as noise...ear plugs.
Life is what you make of it.

I thought most truck stops were infested with lot lizards. I've read a many threads here and the impression I get is they will knock on windows at all hours of the night looking to make money. One guy wrote the lot lizards are so bad he took a blank sheet of paper and wrote a big NO and stuck it on his window. I've read the lot lizards use the CB to advertise to drivers pulling in truck stops. I've read that most lot lizards are addicted to drugs and do not look all that good. I've read one guy said he takes a box of condoms on every truck run.

If you have only seen a lot lizard twice in three years then maybe the other posts are greatly exaggerated. Other threads make it sound like most truck stops have them.
you will quickly learn which places are infested and which ones arent, generally, the closer you are to a big city, the worse it is.

I have seen a few most are pretty rough but one I saw was a knock out  in a short pink dress, she made quite a scene getting in some guy's truck  . Hay ya can't catch anything from looking

I stopped for the night at the Loves in Amarillo one night a few weeks ago......While sitting there winding down, I saw quite a few "skanks" hopping around....A couple stopped by my truck to ask if I needed company......One,who I only saw from a distance didn't look too bad......Guys on the CB were saying she was a guy....LOL...

Oh.I forgot the best part......One was on the CB calling her self Suck em Silly Sally.......Hahahaaaaaa...
