I have a novel idea, for all the freight haulers out there!
We could propose to the big companies to pay all their drivers on percentage, like most flatbed and dry bulk outfits! Then mileage and speed would not be so important!
Oh wait, then a driver would have to really learn how to manage their time, properly plan routes, and well, you get the point!
Now that is working for your money! Pay attention to the pay scale, regions, and do not turn down those Northeast runs, those pay the best!
Good day!!

My point is this. I just started with a new company (one month). Our trucks are governed @65. Does it suck? Sure. There was the topic at our last driver meeting of asking for volunteers to have their truck turned back to 60. Out of 65 trucks at 7 terminals 45 volunteered. I did it because as a company we are in it together. If the drivers don't at least try to help out then management will step in. Most of out trucks are equipped with bunk heaters which makes cooler nights comfortable and the company is already in the process of comparing various apu's as an attempt to eliminate idiling altogether. If your truck is going to be idiling more than 5 minutes we are asked to shut them off. Is it a big deal. Not to me.

Touche, nobody is forcing you or any of the other whiners to drive a truck either! I was wondering how long it would take you to make that point!

I never said drivers were forced to work for companies that roll back the governor, I said that drivers lose money when they are rolled back. And it is ridiculous to say companies only have a certain amount of treight.
Evertrucker is a perfect example of how you can hustle and Tcall to deliver early and make more money. The faster you deliver the faster you can get that next load.

PLAIN AND SIMPLE:
The person who owns the truck has the right to govern it at any speed they want to. If you don't like it, go find another truck to drive.

Uhh, ok. Nobody was suggesting that they didn't have the right but if it makes you feel better...

just drive getting paid by the hr. then you dont have to worry.
P.S. My truck still does 74mph. But i will still be in the right lane doing 60 cuz after all it doesnt pay me to speed. It pays better to go the speed limit.

Well, if we all know that the companies have the right to govern the speed on the trucks they own, why exactly are there so many people whining in this thread because they are doing so?

well, now that you have a slow truck you can run the middle lane all the time, be sure to stay on the phone and cuss out anyone who has the nerve to ask you to move over..
