Default 2008 and no raise insight.

With the price of oil has quadruple in the last 4 years making the cost of living raising faster than my wages are going up.
I have been at 32 cpm for fifteen months now. Has other companies holding back on drivers with more than 2 years experience?

If companies can get drivers to drive for 32 CPM, then that's what they'll pay. If they could get you to drive for 20 CPM, they'd pay you that and tell you how great you have it.

Freight has been off for the past two years. Rates are down. It is difficult for a company to give raises when rates are going down and operating costs are going up. I don't know that is the reason, but unless a company can make a profit it won't be in business for very long. We are in a recession and it will be difficult on everyone.

You don't say but I assume that you are driving for a smaller company.
While alot of folks knock the big companies they tend to fair better in bad times. You can do alot better than .32 cpm with 2 yrs exp. depending on your safety record.

While I pull reefer, my company actually is doing better in '08 vs '07 as far as revenue miles are concerned. There is some cutting back to offset higher costs but driver raises and bonuses have not been affected.

Your so right. It doesnt matter how much profit the company is making. It all about the supply of drivers. The only thing I don't understand, is why do driver trainers keep training new drivers if they know they are keeping there own wages down.

Gees thanks for intelligent input...btw don't count your chickens before they hatch. How many years in row did you get a raise, not counting the first 2 years?

.32CPM that's to low,I know it's not a good time to job hop but i'd give it a lot of thought!I started out with no recent exp. and still got .40CPM and picked up another .01 late last year.
Start looking, the loger you wait the more you lose

evinrude, i get a raise every year...always do. what i don't understand is what good you are doing yourself by getting on a forum to complain about the fact that you have not gotten a raise. what kind of responses are you looking for? poor you, the world sucks and it is out to get you. is that what you are looking for? man, just start looking for jobs, there are plenty out there if you wanna work. it does no good to complain and do nothing.
