Now this is nice! Some good peaceful conversation here. Just nice to see we can all joke around a little and have some fun.

Uturn and Skywalker were 2 of the ones that I had excluded for being grouped in with the other dumbasses. I have alot of respect for you both and always look forward to your insightful posts.

For me I am just tired of all the namecalling and fighting. I for one refuse to do it anymore.

That is what they call an urban legend. Not true at all. John F. Kennedy was 119.

I think this topic is the biggest pile of BS I've ever heard. So far we have 4 people that are close or exceed genius level IQ. People with genius IQ's just don't walk around without a clue and drive trucks.

I was tested just recently as part of a local college statistic test. They took a random sampling of people to test for ADHD and part of that test involves an IQ test. There are many people walking around with ADHD who are not aware of the fact. People with ADHD tend to have a much higher IQ.

Myself and the majority of people who took the test opted not to be told their IQ.

Hoggie: Could you reformulate and repost that list in order of I.Q. from high to low? That way we could see all the "D's" at the top and the "R's" at the bottom!

Interesting that the highest I.Q. for a Republican was that of a crook!

Oh, BTW..... this question has been asked before on another thread. But, of course you KNEW that.... since you're a genius!!

I tested out with an IQ of 186, and it eventually became my undoing.

You see, I was a child genius who graduated medical school when I was 19 years old!! I then went on to do my residency and internship. By the time that was over, I became very disillusioned about practicing medicine.

Soooo, I packed up and headed off to law school; graduated near the top of my class, and went on to serve a clerkship for a very prominent judge who handled tort cases. I saw how much malpractice lawyers were raking in, and in my mind, I started hearing "Cha-Ching!! Cha-Ching!!"

So, right after finishing my clerkship, the judge who I served helped line me up with a very prestigious and powerful law firm that specialized in medical malpractice law.

Within six months of going to work there, I became very, very ill...

Well, I still had a license to practice medicine, so I diagnosed myself, and prescribed some medication for myself. Unfortunately, not only was my diagnosis incorrect, I also suffered a VERRRRY serious allergic reaction to the medicine that I had prescribed for myself which sent me into shock, and nearly killed me.

So, I filed a complaint against myself with The American Medical Association, and our local medical board as well. I wound up having my license to practice medicine revoked.....no problem, I was still an attorney specializing in tort law.

Soooo, I sued myself for malpractice, and not only lost everything I had, a I also filed a complaint against myself with The Texas Bar Association over ethical breaches. Well, it took some doing, but I finally succeeded in having myself permanently disbarred.

Fortunately, I found a wonderful website called CAD, where I learned that I could get rich very quickly by learning to drive a truck. From what I was reading, I would have an opportunity to see the sights, stop of at Disneyland on my way to deliver a load and GET PAID FOR IT at the same time!! A really COOL DUDE who calls himself
"Spencerain" helped hook me up with a wonderful company called "C.R. England"!! He told me about this AWESOME Lease Operator Program that they have!!

...And, as Paul Harvey would say, "Now you know the rest of the story"!!

I'm now living at the local homeless shelter!!

I find this interesting, too! One of the links provided before, showed that those best suited for truck driving fell into the level just below average (IIRC.)

However, it doesn't surprise me that much that those who post on THIS FORUM are MORE than above average! I have found that most who post here are really quite intelligent! I would say that the fact that they choose to post here, with the varied topics we discuss, would indicate a certain level of intellectual curiosity and accomplishment.

I WISH we were all really a "representative sampling" of truckers in general. But, we all know that is not true. But, that doesn't diminish the fact that MOST who post here are definitely above average I.Q! I, for one, have immensely enjoyed our debates and discussions. There is not a finer bunch of people with whom I have EVER associated!

As for truckers in general, I have said before, and will again, that this is NOT your grandfather's trucking industry. Not that MANY of our ancestors weren't JUST as intelligent... though many lacked formal education.... but that those who LACK intelligence today, quickly find themselves OUT OF THE INDUSTRY.

We are often compared to construction workers. But, how many of us can build a house or a building or a road today with all the requirements, codes, and specifications? Many of THEM are not dummies, either!

Just by reading the bios on this forum we find that MANY today have come from careers in Finance, IT, Management, and our fine Military! We ARE some of the best minds in our country today, and have the added indicator of intelligence that is Independence!

For every ONE of us who posts here, there are probably hundreds MORE with like abilities and intelligence. Unfortunately, there are many who are NOT! But, we have every RIGHT to feel good about ourselves and our industry.... and to have HOPE for the future!

I am PROUD to count myself as ONE of you! I have been BLESSED to know you! I have traveled in "other" circles (as many have) but I have never known a better bunch of people! Nor any who were any smarter!

And why not?

People from all walks of life and every imaginable education level are out there driving trucks and are quite happy to do so.

Yeah, I'm one of those that posted earlier with a so-called 'genius' IQ and I'm also a driver. My education is extensive and I hold more than one degree. Why, you may ask, am I driving? Simple really. I tried working in the white collar world for several years and absolutely despised it. Getting up and going to work every day was simple torture. Being trapped in an office surrounded by all the brown nosing, office politics, and all that came with that sort of career made my stomach turn.

I enjoy the open road and traveling around the country seeing the beautiful sights. I enjoy being alone most of the time. I generally don't get along with people very well and I never will. Driving is the perfect job for someone with my mindset and personality. I don't allow my brain to rot out there either; I still study extensively, I keep up with advances and new technology in my degree fields constantly.

I drive because I choose to, not because I have to.

SteveBooth;

It may interest you to know that over 20% of the people serving time in The Texas Prison System test out as being "Gifted and Talented", as do may people living in homeless shelters.

IQ is only part of the equation; it measures a person's Intelligence Quotient, but does not necessarily register proper training of the mind. Many people with high IQ's also suffer from mental illness and/or emotional disorders

There is a big difference from being "INTELLIGENT" and being "SMART" . Admittedly, I fall into that category.

All kidding aside, I have a fairly high IQ, but due to my dyslexia and ADHD, I have a bout a 27 point split between my high ranges and my lower ranges. As splits go, the average person will have a split of 6 to 9 points; a 10 or 12 point split is indicative of learning differences, which left untreated, will likely manifest into learning disabilities.

The HIGHEST split the Neuropsychologist who tested me had ever seen was a young girl with a 35 point split.... and no joking, she was being treated for psychosis.
.

So, you can't always tie a person's IQ to his/her occupation.

That's pretty interesting. I didn't know they do IQ testing on homeless and inmates. Must be a government funded project I'm guessing.
