Simple CB question EDITED

as far as changing your radio to make it blue, its not very difficult, I just recently brought my 29 ltd to a cb shop to get it tuned and peaked, and at the same time i asked him about lighting (my meter light was out), and for $12 threw in a blue LED for the meter, as for the LCD that LCD on ebay would work, and yes it would also be a pain to install yourself, your best bet is buy it on ebay, and bring it to a cb shop to install, or find someone good with a soldering iron and electronics. If you really want to get fancy too, you can get blue lit up knobs, the CB shop I was in sold them for $18 each knob, way too expensive, but I bet you could get a set real cheap online, and again, those too have to be installed by someone good with a soldering iron, not a do it yourself project, but if you buy all the pieces on ebay, you could probably pay $20 to $40 for all the knobs, lcd, etc etc, and $20 or so to a cb shop to install it all.

I may check into that Matcat.
I called Buffalo cb shop in dallas pike, WV today, they want $40 to replace just the meter. Though I didnt ask them what the price would be if I bought the parts myself  I guess I'll give that a shot tomorrow. I may even look for those knobs too. Sounds cool. If I can get them & everything else on ebay for aruond $50 tops, have it all throw in for $20-$30, then I think thats what I'll do....Of course I could practically buy a brand new cobra 29 for all that, what the hell. Ya only live once.

New question is, I'm looking on ebay and see these cb's with different color meters and channel displays. Is this something that can be done at a normal cb shop, and do they normally have the different colors on hand? I want blue!!

Yeah sure a new 29 would cost the same, but what the hey, atleast you can say its a custom job, rofl. And if your radio is not peaked and tuned yet, I would have them do that as well, will give you a little bit more power, mine pushes 6 watt deadkey and 40 watt peak, about the most you will get out of a 29 without replacing the finals, which is something else they could do too (Mostly to improve your receive), just make sure they dont over modulate, will give you more power but clarity gets worst.

first off, sirius is much better then xm :P I listen to roaddog trucking ch 147 from the time I get up until nearly 4-5pm, secondly, I love arguing on the CB, its fun to push peoples buttons, rofl (But at the same time I do actually try to get intelligent conversations going too, tho that is near impossible most of the time)

Shoooot, I've got a Connex 3300 that can reach out....but its off 99.9% of the time..... Can't stand listening to the motor-mouths that cuss, whine, complain, utter racist crap, talk trash and regurgitate "trucker's stories" ad nauseum..... I use it to talk to "plant security" where needed, and only when necessary. Not intending to insult anyone....but life's just too short to listen to "dickheads"....and unfortunately... it seems that 99% of what you hear nowadays seems to come from people of that ilk.

See: http://www.amforever.net/home3.html Transmitting -- Amplitude Modulation and also -- Some Facts of Modulation Replacing the finals will have no effect on the receiver. kc0iv |
