And besides...lunch and recess is line 1...not 2 (unless of course you are attempting to split the break.... :lol: )

 

Thanks for saying it, however you are logging illegal if you log 8 in the sleeper but you are inside eating :twisted:
I don't understand that though, your 10 can be either lines 1 or 2, but hey your 8 hour break (if splitting) must be all in the sleeper. Makes no sense to me there but the regs are the regs, right :wink:

 

you drive for ABC trucking, new york city, new york.
out of the la terminal.
your truck carries Kansas plates, you have a Alaskan drivers licence.
set the clocks in the truck to west coast time and log it to that clock always.
that is why most state troopers can not read a log, never mind dot that have been to school to LEARN how to read a log, have fun, it is a lot of entertainment

 

OK we all now know you use your home terminal time for log books... now what about delivery time. I is that home time?, main terminal time, or delivery location time? how do I know what time it is?

 

When I used to run a lot of West Coast, I would keep my wrist watch on easter time and my truck clock on pacific time. That way I knew when I needed to pickup and deliver local time and could also check to see what time I needed to log without having to do the math each time to see what time I should log.

 

Use your home terminal time zone on all entries. Reguardless of where you live, where your truck is registered, where your home terminal is, where your girlfriend lives, where your wife lives (don't let her know about the girlfirend), you use 1 time zone and only 1. If you for instance use Central Time Zone (as I do) and deliver in Mountain Time Zone, you use the Central Time Zone for all entries.

Be sure to go to the settings on your cell phone and turn the auto update feature OFF or it will change according to the time zones and really get you screwed up!

About 10 years ago I did however get stopped, my log corresponded to where I was timewise, just kind of showed the next day's date. Reset my watch and convinced the officer that I really did think it was Saturday instead of Friday

Since most delivery appointments are "local" specific...I check the local time on my cell phone..and deliver the load by that time. I "log" my time by the dash display.

 

Appointment times are mostly a personnel thing on what time zone you want to remember the appointment to be....Pickup and Delivery appointments are assigned based on the time zone of the Shipper and Receiver. I personnelly maintain my trucks time to my "home" time zone, In my case eastern. When I receive appointment times, I convert the time zone of the appointment to eastern. Regardless of the appointments actual time zone. This way Im never out of my home time zone. Never have to adjust my alarm clock, truck clocks, just one time zone for me. I do let my cell update as I travel, and it has messed me up, I should turn off the auto update feature. I dont take well to changing my time zone as I travel, so I just always stay on eastern.

 

I don't see what all the fuss is about.

There is only four time zones that one needs to be concerned about.

Your home terminal time zone.
Your last delivery, pickup or drop time zone.
Your next pickup, drop or delivery time zone.
And the time zone you are in at the present time.

Oh, and don't forget the time zones you pass through that do not pertain to any of the above.
