I just checked the status of Snowqualimie and it is good to go, however, I have to head up 97 and it is requiering chains :sad:

If your still on here DD...since you are going to the Rock Island area anyway, you can take I-90 across to George, then hook it north to Quincy and Hiway 28, then west into Rock Island. Going that route is only 60 miles further..if you were going to stop at downtown Wenatchee.

I am in Rock Island now. I took I-90, 970, 97, 28.......although there was an advisory for traction devices going across the Blewett Pass on 97, the roads were wet but clear. Thanks though.

Well..it is good you didn't have any problems on Blewett. This early in the season,it can be bad across there, with all the folks unaccustomed to slick roads having accidents, and blocking them narrow roads for hours.

I had to hang iron a couple of times this summer in colorado and they wernt the nice light road chains they were ice chains. put 3 railers on all 4 drivers a single on the steer and a single on the trl.

I was working my way to an oil rig, and yes it was damn near hip deep mud. It was goin up Garden gulch just north of Parachute, Co.

And such a wonderful place to play !!! LOL....I haven't been into the Gulch since 1985...and do not miss it!!

Now..there are worse places to play in the mud. Rosa Road, east of Bloomfield NM, on Hiway 64 is one of them. Miles upon miles of red clay!!!

Powder Wash in WY get's nasty..summer and winter !!

Well, Alaska is in the States, right? It cant be that much different than California, can it?? :roll:

Alaska is not a part of the lower 48 states in the US. To go from the lower 48 states to Alaska, a trucker would have to travel up through Canada first. It is vastly different than California, much colder, and with a lot more snow and ice.
