The Uniden 68 is a nice radio.
http://www.cbcity.com/shop/?shop=1&c...76&itemid=1301 Whatever you buy though, be sure and have the antenna's tuned by a pro. That is what really makes the difference, and how to increase range. Some places, like the one in that link above pre-tune and peak the radios for you, and that also helps.
We used to run sideband back in the 70's, and on flat ground 25 miles was not a problem and much more at night. The audio sounds kind of weird, but if you wanted privacy and range, you had little choice back then in the pre-cell phone days.
