I had 2 of the 29's with Soundtracker and I never could pick up another truck more than 1/4-1/2 mile even with it switched off and the squelched turned all the way down (or up) where I should have been able to hear anything within at least 5 miles. I got rid of the 29 ST and put in a Uniden 78 and I could send and recieve for miles with the same antennas and coax. I have talked to many drivers who had the same experience. Some bought the Uniden radios and others bought a 25 or 29 classic and the problem disappeared.
