hey, thanx guys for all th info. and yes, i'm planning on taking care of my own schooling bc i have heard the same things about how you become a "slave" for the first year to the company that paid for your education. there are a few schools around here, and a couple im seriously considering. plus, i should be able to get some kind of a grant so i dont have to pay to much if any for my schooling.

From one rookie looking into the industry to another, the first thing id ask myself, is if your ready, willing, and able to take on the lifestyle change this career change will make upon you.

Married? Have kids? Signfiicant other you love dearly? Think twice.

I plan on team driving with my GF of 7 years. ( yea yea i know, get married already), but right now, this career change is riding on her ability to get her shit together. (a couple medical problems, and financial problems). If she can't cut it, then theres no point in myself making this change because it changes the financial situation entirely. (IE still paying on our apartment, where as if we team drive we'll put our crap in storage) . Personally i WANT to do this with or without her because im sick of my current job, but i know that if i do it without her, our relationship will ultimatly be forfeit.

So Think it out, think it all out, plan ahead, and be prepaired for a long time away from family, friends, and loved ones.

thanx for the advice. I appreciate it. and i have thought about all the changes ill have to make, definitely. plus, i have no kids, or wife or GF right now, so i have absolutely no strings to hold me here. just all my good friends, but i can visit them on the few days that i have off, which i know will not be many.

my plan, is to drive solo OTR for a couple years, just to get the experience in, then try to find a job locally where i may even be able to be home every night, then i could buy a nice house, and start to settle down more...that is, uneless i like OTR way to much to give it up that soon. but, as of right now, thats my exact plan, so ill see what i work out
