Default TICKET INFO

I have a few questions about out of state tickets. If you know the answer, please... post up!

1.) If you receive a ticket in another state, does it get transfered to your "home" states MVR???

2.) If so, does anyone know if a ticket received in Indiana will be transfered to an Ohio MVR???

3.) Say your ticket from another state carries in my case 6 points.... but in your home state it only carries 4 points. What will be added to your MVR.... 6 or 4???

4.) Anyone know any GOOD Traffic Lawyers in the Indianapolis area???

Any other info about helping with an out of state ticket would be GREAT!!! Please post up any info and help!!!! THANKS!!!

(If you feel you could help me in a "Disobeying Trafffic Device" ticket, PLEASE send me a PM.... I'd REALLY appreciate it!!!)

CDL means Federal-which means Yes
This is why licenses went from Chauffers licenses to CDL

Unless your home state does not recognize traffic citations from a particular state or states it does, upon conviction.

Yes Ohio does recognize traffic convictions from other states.

Normally your home state assesses any "points" that a traffic citation has.

Sorry can't help you with that one. You could probably find one in the online yellow pages though. How good they are is up in the air.

The only other thing I know about out of state traffic citations is that it is possible to lose your driving privileges in one state but still have a valid DL in another.

Might want to re-check that-That's the reason Licenses went to Federal CDL-State hopping to get another license

Yoopr, you're correct. It is illegal to hold a CDL in more than one state. All states had to create a law when CDL requirements were made by the federal government.

I had a ticket in VA (excessive speed, no points) that DE REFUSED to transfer over because of some odd commonwealth law. A year later when I got my CDL not only did the citation magically appear, but DE issued 2 points because 1mph over here is a 2pnt offense. So I went through class with 2pnts and graduated with 4 making it near impossible for me to land a local job.

What I mean is that lets say you have an IL DL/CDL. It is possible to have your driving privileges suspended in lets say OH, but not have your IL lisc suspended. You can still drive in any state but OH. (Just using these states as random example)

I am not talking about state hopping for a "new" lisc like was possible in the pre-CDL days.

What you stated is partly true. However, eventually your CDL will be suspended in your home state. All states are now using CIDLIS, a national database that keeps track of duplicate CDLs, suspensions and serious offenses (DUI, reckless driving, etc.) . The DMV in your home state will check CIDLIS before renewing your CDL every five years. So you may be able to drive anywhere except Ohio until it comes time to renew your CDL.
