Eh its nice but what is so great about it? It's rather small and there's not a whole lot of parking. No full service restaurant. Also when fueling, one has to toss the fuel pump up under the truck to get to the other side. There aren't fule pumps on both side, and the pumps are located on the right side. So when fueling tractor and reefer, you have to toss it under and back twice, when pulling up. That is a really bad set up; I haven't seen it anywhere else.[/quote]

Yeah,...its a bit old school, but I love Flagstaff, and parking near the Lodgepole Pines is a nice touch.
Also its the one stop that I went to while I was training that I didn't find absolutley scummy showers. (Stevens had a lot of Pilots on the fuel list).

I remember that there is a big truck stop just west of Albuquerque. It seems like there was also a big casino across the highway. I stopped at the truck stop for a minute. Cant remember the name, but it was at night, and it looked like a city. Or, maybe that was in Flagstaff, now that I think about it. I know it was out west on I-40. :P

The one west of Albuquerque is the Route 66 Casino.

Yes, there IS one. It's just NOT in the same building as the fuel desk. You have to go down the sidewalk on the north side of the parking lot and into the HOTEL part. Upstairs (I believe it is) there is a VERY nice and classy restaurant!

I was almost ashamed to go IN there dressed like a trucker!

And yes, the showers there are very nice!

As for the fuel pumps and reefers.... pull up to where the pump is abreast of your catwalk. You should be able to easily pass the pump (with a very long hose) across the catwalk to the passenger side tank, then bring it back and get the reefer without having to move the truck. This actually beats having to pull up like at MOST "dual pump" fuel islands.

You said they were on the RIGHT side, but I believe if you pull over to the left, there are pumps on the left side. Either way, "center" your truck and I believe you can get all three tanks (through the catwalk) without having to move.

However, I DO prefer the regular two pump setup at OTHER truckstops.

I could be wrong, but I BELIEVE you are referring to the Tiger TruckStop in Esperanza, TX - mm 87 - on I-10 east of El Paso.

The tigers are gone now (I think) and the place is a bit "dumpy," but I never tried the food!

VERY large gravel parking lot.

Personally, I like MANY of the T/A's! But, I try to avoid the older ones. I like the one in Troutdale, OR (outside of Portland) because it has a Sports Bar inside. I'm usually laid over there for a day or two on the weekends, and I get to watch racing, football, etc., and have a few beers.

One of the best SHOWERS on the road, is the Petro at Milan, NM! The water pressure will almost knock you down! Most Petros are okay, but their fuel islands are usually nasty!

Flying J's are okay, but the ONE SINGLE cashier at the fuel desk usually has an attitude from HELL! And I don't care WHAT night I stop in.... the selection on the buffet is ALWAYS the same thing! (And the menu items are about 1-2 bucks higher than other chains.)

Bosselman Pilots ARE some of the best as far as Pilots go, but I don't see the problem with Pilots, in general. SOME have smallish parking lots, but some are quite large. The one at the 140 in OKC comes to mind.... and I like the one in Lebanon, TN. Fact is.... they ALL seem to be clean, laid out about the same, and SOME have Wendy's (which is my second favorite burger.)

Although the NEWER Loves are "finally" being built with a decent size parking lot, they still offer "rice paper" in the toilets.... and I WILL NOT stop there unless I have NO choice!

As far as NON-chain types.... the Boise Stage Stop has wonderfull showers, Jubitz in Portland has a world class restaurant (and a C&W bar,) and most ANY Casino is a good stop!
