I never had to cross over into San Franfreako-Oakland was my limit and that was probably worse.
I used to go there prior to the Earthquake

Trucks can take 17 from Santa Cruz over the mountain and into San Jose. Trucks have to exit PCH(CA1) at CA17. No trucks north of 17 on PCH from Santa Cruz.
