I didn't use to notice the signs at the parking lots that prohibited trucks before I started CDL school. Most of the nation's freight does come by truck. Questions to you experienced truckers: 1)WHY is it so horrible for trucks to be parked overnight in a parking lot? 2)WHERE is the lobby/union/etc., for the trucking industry - are there that many more important issues that the lobby/union/etc., is busy with? It seems that home time is an important issue for many truckers - and so, parking the truck during home-time would seem to be an important issue for the advocates of the industry. I could even see limiting the number of spaces for trucks per shopping center and marking the spaces furthest away from the shops as the truck parking area. Is there nothing than can be done? I'm new to the industry; so forgive my naïveté, please.

LKat, there are several reasons that shopping centers don't want heavy trucks in their parking lots...
1. The trucks are too heavy for the construction of the lot and will damage it.

2. There are "scumbag" drivers who throw their trash out in the parking lots and some even leave "pee" bottles....

3. Some county , city, village, etc laws prohibit it.
