If you have the money for them I would recommend Redwings. But if you like inexpensive stuff like I do I would recommend a pair of Justin Basics. I wear the basics and I've been happy with them so far.You can get a decent pair of Justin's for $80.

Just head down to Wal-Mart and buy a pair of Brahma's. Cheap, mine cost $35.00, oil-proof, steel toe. They work fine.
And when you walk buy someone that have the 'luxury' boots you can chuckle to yourself knowing you saved tons of money. lol.

I prefer a well broken in pair of boots when driving.
Easier to feel the pedals and be more precise. If you're starting school in july you should buy a pair now and get them broken in before then.

What feels good to any individual is going to be a matter of taste, but I can say if they don't feel good at the store, they ain't gonna get no better when you take them trucking. I've made that mistake plenty of times. Where do Redwings come from? I might go that route next time, now that they don't sell my particular kind of Survivor anymore, and all the other ones I tried felt bad.

It really matter of taste. I had a pair made by Gergia Boots, and been great and 8 year later still in good to fair condition. I was also given at no charge a pair of Army Desert Boots but no steal toe. Nice boot. BUt now all I wear are my sandals, for shoes only cause my feet to hurt more than they do already.

learning to drive? I would suggest sneakers or some light shoe! Learning to drive with new big clunky boots on is not good! You need to be able to feel your feet and be light on the pedals.
