Sears. Timberland steel toed hikers. They feel like tennis shoes. I wear them with both shorts and jeans. Had mine for about two years and wear them every day on the road. 90 bucks.

Good choice. I wear Redwings. I've had mine for several years, and they are still top notch. Been in mud, cow poop, rain, cold, heat, and they are good as gold. $150 seems kinda high.

As for cowboy boots, I say, Justin, Nocona, Laredo.

I think it depends on the work being done. For otr, you might be able to get along fine with a pair of cheap wally world boots.

I drive locally for a paving outfit and the first pair of boots I had were cheap wally world boot and they lasted one day. The heat of the asphalt messed up the glue and the soles fell apart. The second pair of boots were a pair of Catepillar Boots (about $90, i think). At first they were stiff and uncomfortable, but after a few days they were great, but i wore completely through the soles in about 2.5 to 3 months (hot asphalt does not feel good on the bottom of the foot, inside the boot, AT ALL). Now i have a pair of Ariat's ($120) that are comfortable and have alot of support in the ankle. In the last year, they have held up great, even the soles.

My next pair will probably be Redwing's even though they tend to be a little on the high side price wise. I would rather pay more for a high quality boot that will last a year or more, then have to pay $50-$80 every 3 months for "cheap" boots

I have the cabelas brand boot. Been wearing them since november, and they're the best boots I've ever wore. I haul rebar and deliver to jobsites that are often huge mud pits where I have to get out and unstrap, put stuff away etc, and I've yet to have 1 once of water or mud leak into the boots. Plus the're pretty comfortable/flexable. If you have a wide foot, they make them in wide, so thats another plus. I've had the Rocky Bearclaws and they were the worst boots I've ever wore. Stay away from them.
On another note, as someone mentioned, if your in the process of learning to drive, I would definatley wear a regular shoe, as your need to learn to be precise on your timing with the cluth, etc, and the last thing you want is a big bulky boot that your unfamiliar with getting in the way and bumping the wrong pedals of a big truck that you are unfamiliar with.

I wear Georgia Boots, the mud dog brand, at the time i was hauling sod and needed something water and mud resistant, which they did a great job of, now i'm hauling a walking floor, and still using them. I think they were right at about 100 bucks, but it's 2 years later and they're still in great shape, and i tell you i prefer them over my regular shoes, easily the most comfortable thing i've ever worn on my feet.

I think it depends on the style of work you are doing. There is no need to buy $150 pair of boots if all you do is bump a dock or drop and hook. But you don't want to wear tennis shoes if you are hauling pipe or something like that, you do want to wear them while you are learning to drive and maybe even once you get done learning. Me being a car hauler I wear something comfy and has good grip while loading then I put my sandles on while I am driving.
